I really don’t know what my SD card I should use for, since it’s a bottleneck when Backuping or +JPG. Overflow is not needed since my CFe is pretty spacious.

Z30 camera does not have a UHS-II card reader socket with 2 rows of contacts which is required to get the full speed of UHS-II cards! Z30 has only one row of contacts good for UHS-I cards! So a UHS-II card behaves like a UHS-I card and sometimes even worse. Use UHS-II cards with cameras that have a UHS-II card slot, for example Nikon Z5! Use fast UHS-I cards for the Z30.
@memory-card
@memory-card 2 сағат бұрын
Sure the Z30 doesn't have UHS-II, but you can still use those and profit from the faster read-out speed on your PC or Mac. Especially the cheaper UHS-II V60 cards are great in terms of price/performance in that regard.

Hello there. Great review! I would like to ask you about the " ProGrade Digital CFexpress B 2.0 Memory Card (Cobalt) 1700" vs " ProGrade Digital CFexpress 4.0 Type B Gold Memory Card ". Which one should I choose? Do you think that the first Memory Card is still enough for 120 frames and also what size do you think it's better for video content and photography in the same time? Thank you.
@memory-card
@memory-card 29 күн бұрын
Cobalt and Gold are different CFx cards for different purposes. The *Cobalt* line is using pSLC NAND Flash (therefore odd capacities like 165 or 325 GB), *Gold* uses normal TLC NAND (256, 512 GB and so on). pSLC is 3x more expensive per GB, because each cell contain 1 instead of 3 bits. But on the other hand much more reliable (p/e cycles) and faster. So if you e.g. shoot 8K RAW video, pSLC is your best bet for uninterrupted videos. For standard video (h.264 or h.265), TLC cards like the Gold series are fine - and much cheaper. Size: Depending on you needs. One will be OK with 64 GB for a day, another may need 4x 2 TB.

@@memory-card Thank you for response. I'm looking the high end choices that my camera gives me just in case. So if want to capture 6K Raw video for 30 minutes i should pick one of the Cobalt line with at least 325gb memory? Where can i check online for the storage of every video mode on my Z6 iii? Theoretically, because if i need to pick a memory card i have to know how much it "costs" every mode i choose. Thank you.

hello, I'm a hobbyist photographer and barely focus on video. I'm thinking between an A7R3 and LA-EA4, an A6700 and an A7m4. Apparently since I'm focused on wildlife and aviation I would get the A6700 but it's very limited photography wise. Do you actually need a CF Express card for the A6700 to achieve at least lossy raw 11fps? (coming from an A77M2 with 150K+ shutter cycles)

Please Answer my question SD UHS 1 V30......How many shots SD UHS 2 V60......How Many shots SD UHS 2 V90......How many shots until the buffer is full. shooting Uncompressed Raw
@memory-card
@memory-card 3 ай бұрын
V30, V60 and V90 are video speed classes, defining a *minimum* writing speed of 30, 60 or 90 MB/s respectively required for the certification. Just to say V60 card A and B may have way different results, even though both are V60. An example for the A7RV: Both the Lexar 1667x and 1800x are UHS-II V60 cards, but the 1667x is reaching ~110 MB/s during continuous shooting, the 1800x ~180 MB/s. Since the camera starts writing immediately, the "buffer size" (# of shots at full speed) differs. Rule of thumb: 55-65 shots for fast V60 and V90. But lossless compression is recommended anyway :)

@memory-card
@memory-card 7 ай бұрын
No, uncompressed 4K 10 bit with 60p would require ~14,930 Mbps (3,840 px * 2,160 px * 3 color channels * 10 bit color depth * 60 fps) or roughly 2 GB/s. XAVC S-I is just an all I-frame encoding - so pretty basic H.265 or H.264, just without P- and B-frames. Since most modern PC and Mac have pretty decent HW decoding, it's just wasted HDD space for 99 % of all use cases. Anyway: The playback issue is weird, since cards are usually always faster in read-mode. But could also be a problem with the Sony Firmware. Maybe there is an FW update available?

The 18-35 f1.8 would be PHENOMENAL but they have to keep it small. The DSLR 18-35 f1.8 was a huge lens. It needs to be compact to match the smaller APSC bodies from sony and fuji. Hell I would take 18-35 f2.0 instead if it meant size reduction. Either way, a lens like this that is smaller than the fuji 16-55 f2.8 zoom would be a game changer and sell like hot cakes. Make it kit lens size and it will be constantly out of stock.

Would have appreciated seeing the actual buffer clear time for the S5II in addition to the (measured? computed? estimated?) write speed in the chart. Also as best as I can tell the chart of SD card performance results for the S5II and the chart of results for the G9II on your website are identical - did you really test the two cameras independently or simply assume uniform behavior between the two?
@memory-card
@memory-card 8 ай бұрын
1.) The write speed is measured (bytes written divided by the time the indicator was active). 2.) We are transparent about that fact. You'll find the explanation at the bottom of the G9 II table: *Please note:* _The results above were measured using a Panasonic Lumix S5 II. Based on a 6-point random examination, measured values are applicable to the Panasonic Lumix G9 II as well. The deviation between both cameras is below ±1 percent._ It is common practice for camera manufacturers to use the same type of image processor, image sensor or in this case memory card controller for various cameras. Sometimes the controller is within the image processor. For example, Sony used the same (very slow) controller across almost a dozen early Alpha 7 and Alpha 6x00 cameras. So we do not "assume" uniform behavior, but measure a reasonable sample size (in this case 6 out of 41 cards, so ~14 %), including the fastest card and across various (interface) speeds such as UHS-II V90, UHS-II V60 and UHS-I.

Scammers have it made. They can pirate and sell counterfeit products, and nobody can stop them. Even when they get caught, their products remain up. Amazon is aware, and helping the scammers, because they get paid too. If after a year or two of complaints, or if they finally get banned, they make a new company name and logo, and start again.
