I think this is the part that would make the most sense for Ludinus to show to BH and co - like to emphasize that the gods do not take their creations seriously, that their fury is dismissable and not worth respecting - even the Matron doesnt exactly shake that image, calling the angel a child for their understandable grievances given that the angel Does Not have the full picture... the Matron promises to keep the angel safe but once the angel has yielded all their knowledge pchoooooo off into death with ye

This entire sequence is brilliant, but for me, the panic and crack in Brennan's voice when the planetar begs "Please don't take it!" the second time was the thing that absolutely floored me, and I've been thinking about it ever since. Because that is the ultimate removal of agency, and if anything displays the unthinking cruelty of the gods it's how Corellon does this so matter of factly. Just reaches out to take the very feelings from this being, anger that is JUSTIFIED and HARD EARNED. and THEIRS, because it's inconvenient. Brennan absolutely NAILED that sudden panic. Imagine feeling everything you value being pulled away. It made me think of the Tranquil in Dragon Age. Cut off from dreams and emotion, compliant, calm, and empty, a fate worse than death. And then "You should not have made us GOOD" at the end. Holy shit. BUT ALSO, Abubakar playing the cool condescension of a being who truly BELIEVES they know better, that this tiny creation truly can't comprehend. Like that parent who can't believe that children have rich, deep emotional lives, and aren't simply there to be molded. HE'S PLAYING IT SO WELL, he's making me DEEPLY dislike Corellon, and it's a thing of, well... beauty :p
@operative213659 минут бұрын
I agree! The performances in this scene were *chef's kiss*. I've often wondered how one would characterize an incarnation of Corellon - I suppose it can vary depending on what the elves themselves are like in a given setting. In Exandria, I think Abubakar's portrayal is reasonably appropriate, especially when contrasted against the other prime deities. As a god of beauty, he definitely comes across as a little hedonistic, and self involved.

God, I loved the perspective that Brennan brought by using this angel to express what it would be like to live through a time when the gods had gone silent. (Plus the sadness in the fact that the only thing the angel could count as being theirs was their anger, and a god could have chosen to take that away from them too.)

I really didn’t like the gods in this conversation they came across as incredibly demeaning and was borderline gaslighting the angel.

God Laura and Abu played this so intelligently. She called his bluff, fished out the REAL reason he was hesitant and addressed it directly, letting him know he would only be losing something precious in the short run, and could create again in the future. Abu played the guilt filled god of Beauty perfectly, working through the grief and heartbreak of his most precious jewel being threatened and reasoning through it all elegantly.

Immortality is a curse. The old god understands this the new god will be finding it out. Sometimes things just need to run its course and end. It’s ironic that the person who controls death has to be reminded of that fact. As death is the last to go when everything finally does truly end.

So Aeor is a regime that extorts people of their food and raw materials in place for indentured labor and whoever earns the most for shelter. What a bunch of assholes. No wonder the gods smacked them from the sky.
@benjaminZ208 күн бұрын
So they are the gods in human or mortal form right?
@Kermie_Frogman8 күн бұрын
Yeah Gods in mortal (shells? champions? forms?). They're definitely physical, they're not illusory... they may have forced their way into their bodies for all we know some seem to be the body of a champion of some sort and some seem (like the Aeormaton or betrayer gods' vessels) to have taken over a preexisting person? They run the risk of death but it's been said that they would reform but if they should die they might not be available for coming battles because of their respawn timer?

@@Kermie_Frogman ahh ok thanks, i was super confused at first, but then i noticed laura giving orders to pervan and i was like "wait what!?" Lol
@SoralaxPlays8 күн бұрын
Yeah, they've definitely taken over people with preexisting lives. Mild spoiler: Ashley is playing the Everlight, who is 100% occupying a wife and mother of two. The husband does not seem to know about the Everlight's presence in his wife, but suspects that something is off. Asmodeus, if I'm not mistaken, took over a priest of Helios specifically as an act of spite, which is especially fucked.
@KnightErrantOW8 күн бұрын
They mention that they've all been mortal for varying lengths of time and they all appear to be different ages, so unless I'm mistaken, they incarnated into the world as babies and have lived out full mortal lives. But they haven't told anyone who they are, outside of a few trusted individuals like Purvan.
@viastephtop8 күн бұрын
@@KnightErrantOW I feel like it's super likely some were born into their forms, I'm fuzzy on the details but wasn't it basically insinuated that Purvan more or less raised the mortal version of the Raven Queen? I'm not sure if I saw it wrong or interpreted it wrong but that's how it struck me.

If you haven't watched the Calamity Wrap-Up, I suggest you do. Travis goes into how Cerrit isn't without fault. Cerrit turned a blind eye to all of this for so long because they are his friends. He could've orevented this long ago if he was willing to dig into this earlier. The sin of purposeful ignorance is still a sin.
