I think the goal is to make it sound like music and not like a machine although I do respect it that kind of mechanical practice could lead to actual music at some point

A true storyteller on the drums. That' why I love Jazz, starting 50 years ago listening to Art Blakey's Freedom Rider and Orgy in Rhythm. The beat goes on thanks to great young musicians like you. Un vrai conteur à la batterie. C'est pourquoi j'aime le jazz, j'ai commencé il y a 50 ans en écoutant Freedom Rider et Orgy in Rhythm d'Art Blakey. Le rythme continue grâce à de grands jeunes musiciens comme vous.

Super. J'ai récemment écrit à un ami (tromboniste) après 2 représentations chez Ronnie Scott qu'il l'appellerait désormais « Sir Denis ». Après une performance comme celle-ci au Lincoln Center, je suis partagé entre « Duke » et « Count » pour vous. 😅👍

You're really doing this at 'half note = 120 bpm.' I saw Alan play it at 'half note = 140 bpm', & to a samba beat. I studied with him for 10'years, & at tha time, was one of only 15 students he ever had who could pay it "correctly", start to finish. Great job, & he'd be impressed! However, set your metranome to a half-note click, not a quarter-note click, & push it from there.

Le bassiste réputé Tony Bonfils me parlait cette semaine de Thomas Enhco le pianiste m'en disant le plus grand bien...Stephane Guillaume , le saxophoniste, je l'avais rencontré lorsque j'ai donné des cours chez "Milonga", et à un concert du Paris jazz big band sa réputation n'est plus à faire ! Les frères Moutin m'avaient offerts un de leur album sont deux internationnaux plus que réputés ,quand à Raphael Pannier , sa sympathie n'à d'égale que son talent, sa fraîcheur de jeu, son inventivité , son énergie ,sa musicalité , sa finesse de jeu , et déja sa très grande expérience aus USA . et en France, en font un des musiciens les plus passionnants actuellement ...conclusion : un superbe quartet ! Que je réécoute à plaisir et en boucle ! amitiés !

Faire de la musique avec une batterie, un jeu "organique " qui vient du tréfond de l'âme humaine , c'est pour moi le plus important ...Ici c'est ce que je ressens ! La vie intense ...Des couleurs , des climats , nuances ,... Avec ces excellents musiciens également en partage ...
