Anyone who still has doubts about whether the Civil War was fought to end slavery should listen to Judy singing this song. Men in small towns tn the north signed up to go, and when they got to the battlefield they lined up as a group. And when the grapeshot went into them, they died as a group. The same was true of the South of course. The difference was that some brave men died to preserve slavery, and the others to end it.

There never be another like her , her voice, her smile her personality and that beautiful figure. Her acting has never been challenged because it can.t.

Superb voice. Too bad she had to die so young, alas.

I just heard the military choir's video version, and Judy fucking beats their asses. THIS rendition speaks to the righteous fury of the Union soldiers in the US's only holy war. The slaveocracy should have taken the place of the men they left as strange fruit, the scions of the institutions and commanders and polticians too craven and venal to serve justice could not do this piece's message justice. It wasn't in their souls after spending a century murdering peasants across the globe.

Please, Folks, when you refer to this greatest of all musical pieces ever written as a "song," you diminish the glory and majesty of The Battle HYMN of the Republic.

Honestly! America did not listen to her! The 2024 Presidential election results reflect it! Clearly, she wouldn’t want us to be that angry and hateful! I love the America that she sang about. Not the America that the new President-elect wants!!

Judy does an incredible job on this song that's why it's so sad that this horrible quality video was uploaded when there are really high quality videos already on here. I don't understand people who load these crap quality videos? WHY?

@@deuxjournalistes2993 There are videos of this same show already uploaded that are perfectly clear. Sid Luft released some of these scenes from the TV shows. I have 1 of the laser discs that was released and the sound is incredible.

"As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free" is the hardest lyric of all time, especially knowing that it was sung by thousands of Union men marching into battle who did in fact die to make men free

She fuckkked up that 3rd verse: "oh be swift my soul, be answering be my feet my jubilant fee"? what the fucckkkk? What is she saying this is a great performance and probably one of the best songs ever written amazing Andy Williams popularized the song after RFK died as well. Its a martyrs song

"his truth is marching on" made me cry - I'd never thought of this as a memorial before (more a hymn sang in church) but it so is a memorial/celebration song.. amazing. I'm Australian but this should be the USA national anthem

Judith Garland was a child prodigy actor with few who could come even close to her skills. Then in my opinion became a self centered monster and then she did this. One of the great moments of my life.
