So I saw this video before coming to USA and had low expectations which ultimately helped ! keep in mind that this video has been made with the context of base salary and not the TC. Stocks here is also a big component. For example avg base is 110 - 120 in cali now and stocks are about 50-100k vested over 4 years as well as the performance Bonus can be 10k for Masters student. Over the time USD to inr has increased too. You can probably save more now considering 30% tax.

You are talking about California. If you work in other states and cities, your savings is much more. Also job and lifestyle is very different from India.
