Chelsea were well into their decline FA Cup winners 1970, Cup winners cup winners 1971, Leagu cup Runners up 1972 then as that team broke up a slide to relegation by the end of the decade.

Andy Pape was still there when I started going to Southbury Road in the 1990s. A great stadium lost to us.

I hadn't seen the video of this game until today, 43+ years later,, but I echo many of the earlier comments. I actually couldn't remember the score but I have always carried the memory of the treatment Frank senior dished out to Chiedozie, and remember being a bit ashamed to be a Hammers fan that day. I know that sort of thing was commonplace in the game then (it is shocking to watch the Chelsea Leeds Cup Final replay of the early 70's) but I'd never seen naked thuggery from a West Ham player before. I'd been brought up on Bobby Moore after all. Watching these highlights there seemed to be a bit of bad feeling all round for some reason. I think I'm happier with today's play-acting than that kind of attempted GBH. Thank goodness for the evolution of the game, and for TV coverage, for not letting such foul play go unnoticed. COYI ⚒️

beating chelsea.1-0?amazing win.didn't they concede seven at home to chelsea around that time?(3-7?)that is a turnaround.never got going against arsenal.didn't seem to get at them.if ever you are up against a mighty opponent or an ivan drago,if you don't go straight for the throat,in most cases, you hand it straight to them always try to unsettle a superior favourite or opponent!always get that vinnie jones on steve macmahon tackle in,three seconds into the whistle!

Orient never returned to the top two divisions. Even spend some time as a non-League side. Sad but true.

I was at this game with my father in the upper tier of the West Stand. I still remember the series of horrific fouls by Frank Lampard, and the way they were cheered by the home fans.

✨Memories...was there that night in West Stand, right at the back, closer to the north stand where Hull fans were...what an atmosphere that night, went mental when Matty Lockwood's Thunderbolt exploded in net.. vid just popped up out of nowhere lol...went to final in Cardiff, lost to Blackpool, but the Legend Chris Tate will go down in history on scoring fastest goal at that stadium... ❤COYOs🇲🇺N15

I remember it was bloody cold and as we were leaving the ground it started to snow. I used to go down the O's occasionally when the Arsenal were away from home. Arsenal were playing 3rd division York City in the 4th round and as I was leaving I heard on the radio that York had got a last minute penalty which they scored. A terrible day all round for me.

And that folks is how to commentate on a footy match. A master class from Barry Davies knowing when to speak, and when not to. Current commentators could learn a load from watching and listening to this clip.

I watched this match from the North Bank. Lampard was certainly hard on Chiedozie, but I remember Chiedozie goading him on a few occasions. He probably got what he deserved.
