Perfect example of why I don't like stalling. Stalling on ISU in the first period was bogus and it decided the match. Let the wrestlers decide the match. It's even worse now with stalling on top.

RIP Carl Hasselrig. Hasselrig has one of the most fascinating sports bios you will every read...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlton_Haselrig 6 NCCA titles (and a DII bronze) back when DII/III champ got a DI bid so he got to do both DII and DI tourneys his soph/junior/senior seasons......made NFL (pro bowl)... fought MMA with a debut at 42. Coached football and wrestling later on ... And he did it all in unlikely ways--no high school wrestling team, never played college football.. This is incredible. They should make an ESPN documentary movie about this guy. There is already a book: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmnZoWOlhtuIp5o

Long Branch’s Luke Skove first lost was in the state tournament to two-time finalist Joe Duca of Paulsboro his freshmen year…He would not lose again in high school. Luke Skove won the NJ State Tournament sophomore, junior and senior year. I believe his record was 119-1!

Why anyone would show injury default, no one at Iowa was ever better than John Smith ( best career ever)

There are probably 50 people who had better college careers than John Smith, actually, and many of them are from Iowa.

Well he blew this match. George doing all the work the entire match and gets hit with the stall call to tie it up. That was terrible.
@caveman7262 ай бұрын
@douglastovey2685 Patterson was strong for the first round, but as the match progressed, he consistently was backing up+ took more than one injury time out🤔. Ref Allen called it right.
@douglastovey26852 ай бұрын
@ no chance. Injury time for a broken finger. Shot count in the last round 100-0. Iowa sucks. Always has and always will. If they were taking honest shots and actually wrestling then bring on the stall calls. But half shots, head butting, and driving guys out with no intention of ever scoring is not wrestling. So glad that the Penn State style had taken over wrestling. Scoring is ever so much more enjoyable to watch than that old school Iowa boredom.
@caveman7262 ай бұрын
@@douglastovey2685 ok I see your point, I definitely don't agree. Iowa has produced numerous All Americans, National Champions, Pan Am Champions ,US Open Champions, World Champions & Olympic Champions. As Iowa State has done. Pattersons shots ended up being blank's. He was a very very talented wrestler, but he did back up A LOT. I appreciate your side of your story. During the '70's, 80's, '90's & 2000's Iowa & Iowa State definitely helped American wrestling as a whole. Now Penn State is the King for now.
