Very helpful and thorough video, thanks for sharing. This confirms the saying 'you get what you pay for'. I was literally looking at this portkeys model vs the Cine7.

I sent my Nano ii back because it wouldn't pair the motors, and they would randomly go nuts and spin infinitely when it got kind of synced. I'm convinced it's a real POS after watching this. Support and the seller also gave me different information about handle compatibility. Was an overall horrible experience.

Unfortunately, I agree. I really, REALLY wanted this to work because they said it had cool features, but as you saw in the video, it’s a mess.

bro how’s the breathing I’m thinking about investing in them

They breathe quite a bit, but that's the character of most anamorphics.

guess i'll go with the smallrig

I've seen and tried that tilta at a show floor, I don't think it is well made, don't think I'd buy that. I think it will be interesting to compare the smallrig with the accsoon f-c01 instead. But the ultimate one now I think is the Dji focus pro

Wish I could get my hands on the DJI Focus Pro. It looks amazing.

How did you manage to calibrate it? Did you just put a monitor calibrator on it whilst it was displaying white?
@DJBFilmz5 ай бұрын
You have to hook the monitor up to the computer (SDI/HDMI). The calibrator sits atop the monitor, but all calibrations are done through the computer and you put the LUT (DisplayCAL creates it) on the monitor using a SD Card/USB drive. The monitor shifts through different gray values and color values when calibrating. There are a few good tuts on KZbin showing the calibration process in depth. Here's the one I like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGPRh4GurZZ8ftEsi=zq0nIGAad3x2BBEf

I was in the same boat as you thinking my Mercury are never going to come, I was thinking maybe they’re only sending out batches to high-profile people / “influencers” … but today the email finally popped up confirming mine are getting sent out in the next few days. I never thought the day would come 😂, So just hold out a bit longer, I didn’t order mine on day one - so the fact I’m getting my preorder is a good sign. Also by emailing them / mildly complaining a few times, I came to find out that they spend time with every single batch and basically assemble them in house by hand, it’s not like Sony or Sigma where they’re just cranking them out in an assembly line. But apparently the attention to detail is impeccable, they’re made to last a life-time, and you never ever have to worry about quality control issues. Anyhow, good luck, these will be the anamorphic lenses I’ve ever shot with & I’ve never been so amped for a piece of camera equipment. Going to shoot a whole doc with them this year

You ever get your set? Thanks for this. Saw plenty of good reviews, then I came across Northwest Camera Co's video, and i was worried. Glad to see someone actually demo it again

Haven't gotten them yet. This might be the longest I've ever waited for a product in my entire life lol. Thanks for watching.

No frkn way. That's crazy. Through atlas? Noticed B&H have them listed now. If you can only grab one, you going 42 or 35 if the use case in NON Corp interviews? Mostly Med 1 or 2 shot. Thoughts? FX3 is the rig.
@DJBFilmz5 ай бұрын
@@MAKEuMRnoFACE For interviews, I like the 42mm slightly more than the 36mm. It seems to have the perfect POV and character for a nice headshot. That's personal taste tho... If you like the sizing of a 35mm than I'd go with the 36mm.
@kazlepek65525 ай бұрын
Northwest’s review was garbage & apparently there’s some conflict of interest with another manufacturer. They basically complained that the Mercury aren’t modern clinically correct lenses, missing the fact that they are modeled after vintage anamorphic lenses like the Kowa they used on the Creator … all of their complaints are literally the qualities that are sought after in anamorphic glass

Just got the Portkeys here. Love the build quality, but I have the same screen “flickering” sometimes… do you see it all the time or just sometimes or with some inputs? Thanks for the video
@DJBFilmz8 ай бұрын
I only saw it when filming the screen with another camera. In this case, the flicker is the refresh rate and chances are, it’s always present.

FX6. Full frame.
@PeterPoulosCreative9 ай бұрын
@@DJBFilmz you test them on S35? I got the 36/72 and the 54/138. I really like the distortion on the 36 but feeling like it’s gonna not have as much of a look on S35.
@DJBFilmz9 ай бұрын
@@PeterPoulosCreativeyes, I did both full frame and S35. You loose a little bit on the edges but the 36mm still has character.
