Great video! I am trying to get markdown into any kind of notion page (db or normal) and cannot figure out the correct syntax to use the content objects mapping. I'm using a text parser / array aggregator / iterator to create an array based on type (headers, lists, paragraph, etc.) but then getting the format right going into the Notion module always ends up in a runtime error. Any tips on this? I feel like this is probably a 10 minute solution but I've been spending days on it. I'm using the API guide and getting help from Claude too! Thanks!

I'm not sure this is exactly the same use case, but I wanted to have a Start Date property, and an "End Date" property for my DIY sprints database. I wanted that whenever I set a "Start Date", the "Ende Date" will be two weeks later, but I wanted to be able to edit it, so a formula wouldn't do. I used "Automations" as such: When: "Start Date" is edited Do set "End Date" to Formula dateAdd(Trigger page.Start Date, 14, ":days") And it worked well. Now it's automatically set to 14 days later, but I can edit it manually if I want to change a sprint's duration. Maybe this helps someone.

Does the API replace the need to set up a connection manually? Is there a resource that helps the user understand the terms used within the downloadable shortcut (i.e. Database ID, API Version, etc.)? I keep getting the error "API token is invalid."

I'm not 100% sure what you mean about the API replacing the need to create a connection I'm afraid, you create a connection in order to use the API. Yes, you can use regex to extract the job number and then insert it in your database property. Hope that helps!

Hi! thanks for posting this shortcut, it's been so helpful for recording my expense. I've tried to adjust the shortcut to capture the spending amount as the first recording option, but keep getting error on the json part. Can you share how to make that edit or slightly tweak your shortcut? Much appreciated!

Hi, glad it was helpful! If you want to submit the expense amount first, you should be able to just drag that step to earlier in the shortcut, the amount that you submit will still be saved for later

You can't use formulas to customise the layout of database views like the timeline unfortunately.

You're welcome! The only explanation that I can think of for that issue would be problems with your phone's internet connection. The behaviour of the shortcut shouldn't change before / after you've restarted your phone. I hope that helps!

Thanks! You can just filter the view with the same filter that's applied to the This Month by Category view, to only see expenses for the current month. I hope that helps!

This is amazing, thanks a lot for the resources! The only thing I'm struggling with is the inaccurate date & time of the records, which appeared to be caused by the timezone difference. Is there anything I can do to retrieve my local date & time?

So glad you found it useful! The timezone difference is a tricky one for me to test but I've just updated the Shortcut, to try to handle that. That probably means that there isn't a property in your database with the M Name Label that you've entered in the settings. Double check that it's not missing / doesn't have any typos. The label is case sensitive. I hope that helps!

Hi, buttons can't be 'clicked' using Notion's API at the moment so unfortunately that's not possible. You'd need to set up an automation to replicate the button's actions instead. I hope that helps!

This is great! How about adding an option to add a receipt? And the receipt would be a last photo or screenshot taken and the photo will be added to the record. Here's how I imagine the workflow going: Request: Hey Siri, add an expense 1) Prompt: What is your expense? -> Response: Say/type expense 2) Prompt: What is the category? Say/type 1 for Auto, Select 2 for Eat Out, Select 3 for Grocery -> Response: Say/type the category 3) Prompt: What is the amount? -> Response: Say/type the amount 4) Prompt: Would you like to add the last photo or screenshot taken as your receipt? Say/type 1 for Yes or 2 for No? -> Response: Say/type Yes/No

Thanks! That’s a great idea but unfortunately the Notion API doesn’t support uploading files at the moment. So you’d need to set the Shortcut to store the receive somewhere like Dropbox or Google Drive and then save the link (which can display the receipt), in Notion. Definitely doable but not something that can be easily added to a general purpose Shortcut unfortunately.
