WOW!!!! Hal Alrod! Demir this was awesome! I read his book years ago and kinda got away from the whole concept. To hear you endorse it means a lot. Respect. I'll be sure to get the new copy and refresh. Great interview! 👍🫰💥

I know it doesn’t pertain to this directly… but it sort of does. I work as a Catholic priest and run a parish with a pretty small team- I’m trying to wade into a project management program- I know y’all are big on asana. Would you recommend it for someone like me? I’m also looking at motion which claims to use ai to schedule things… My team is like 5-6 people in size

Just responded to your other comment! Choosing Asana vs Motion or ClickUp or any of the other similar programs comes down to personal preference - Asana is our fave, and would absolutely work in your situation.

Ok, so. I am trying to figure out whether using asana would help me. Reading your book winning the week really helped me with my productivity and planning… Not to say that I have followed through on everything perfectly, but when I have it is brought me clarity and been greatly helpful. I am a Catholic priest in charge of a relatively large parish in Philadelphia with big Hispanic and Brazilian populations. I’m trying to learn as much as I can and make use of good resources to use my time better and to make progress towards a number of goals here. Our team is small , and I am currently building the team. At present communication is a real weak point for us. I am wondering if Asana would be useful to me whether I should start with a free version or just go for the paid? My job is a little different from your standard entrepreneur, and yet much of what I do is business related, and I do work with teams and groups. Let me know, if you have time what you think honestly might help me.
@LifehackMethod

I think Asana could be a great resource! We use it for business and personal tasks, and it's easily tailored to fit what you need. Start with the free, unless you're a large business with tons of employees and teams you won't need what the paid offers.

My daughter is half Asian and gets stopped at the airport every time. Even when she was 10 years old, she brought books because we pulled her out of school for a week and she had to do homework. They opened her suitcase and combed through every book. Every time she travels with a white person, they go through and she gets stopped. She is young, attractive, and just dresses average. She is 5'2" and weighs about 115 lbs. She travels about three times a year and gets stopped pretty much every time. No way is it random. Also, no way could she use this packing method as they would likely tear apart her packing and leave a mess.This packing method would only work for a white person (I am white, so it would work for me).

What do you mean by leverage? I think of leverage as illicit power over people, like when you blackmail someone. But i don't think that's what you mean here.
@LifehackMethod
@LifehackMethod 3 ай бұрын
The easiest way to clarify leverage is to ask yourself "what's the ONE THING you could do that would make everything else EASIER or UNNECESSARY?" Think of it like a domino effect, the first thing has a big impact by knocking over subsequent things.

😂 Brain vomit...guilty! Definitely aligning projects to your goals (or kpi's) has been a game changer in Asana. It allows a bigger picture view of what it means to get this one 'task' done and agree makes that responsibility clearer (to yourself!)

~ asana ~ clickup - monday - todoist ~ trello - jira - basecamp - planner my experience with them in short if anyone is interested. tried almost all of these (and many others) some time before.. - basecamp: haven't seen this yet - todoist: i guees it is there for long, maybe i tried it a bit long before, i'm not sure now - trello: tried, set up roughly and used it for a while many years before. it was a cute thing, i liked it to be able to arrange my thoughts, plans, .. but the main thing is that if you have different tables for different topics it is quite hard to merge their tasks into one usable todo list or calendar or something. at leaat this was the case i saw last time. there is a home/work page or sg like this where your tasks (assigned to you and with set date) can appear but that was just not usable or flexible enough for me. or you would need to move the tasks constantly between tables, let's say you have one for actual tasks so then you could be more flexible with them. but then they loose their context or you need to do a lot of labeling to have that still. - jira: used enough for work-related stuff. don't know if someone creates a more meaningful setup in it then maybe it could be good for personal use too. for me it remains "that mess" and that unnecessary administration noone will look at later anyway.. - planner: tried a bit for work too. there are good features, but as i remember, there was the same problem.. you add a task under one project (i'm not sure, what was the exact term there), then you cannot move it to another one later.. and i forgot, how much are you able to make a normal todo list or calendar from the tasks from different places. - monday: heard about it around 2 years before, set up everything for myself and started to use a bit but something was very complicated with it. i forgot now, what, but i saw that it is not really for me. too many things i dont need, or sg like this. or i liked more the other app. (would need to look at it again to be able to tell more precisely) - clickup: i set up thoroughly this one for myself too around 2 years before. it was my favourite for a while, but one main thing and some smaller ones just made me forget it after a while. one main thing was the timing. i tried only the app, not sure if this could be fixed on the page itself.. but i set up tasks for certain dates. and after that i just could not be sure if they all appear under today when they should. i guess, they did not consider the time zone, my own "today" or something, but that was quite annoying and unfortunately made it not trustable. and since then they rearranged that setup too somehow and call it just old view. so it it is just worse, those dates all stuck in the past.. i did not experiment with the new arrangement much, but there was missing sg too (i should recheck for details, how was it, but did not make me to go back to it, so sg was not functioning well enough for me for sure). also in the free version you don't have priorities there or you need to make some workaround to have them. and some other features are limited then too (dates, recurring task or some similar things). text inputs worked sometime strange too (could not select the text the right way in some places just with some workaround). i'm sorry for this one, as it started like a cute, good, usable thing i tend to like.. but just went wrong then. - asana: set this wholly too after clickup. seemed to be a good thing and used it for a while. but they just "made me" stop using it.. not intentionally, but it just became that cumbersome that i simply forgot to use it. while you have just some data it is good. but after a while it just started to become slower. imagine, you just want to check or add something quick then you need to wait seconds then maybe even a minute or more to get back your own data. or i made sections but then it did not retrieve all of them. or just after a lot of waiting. or just the first 15. and the others just "disappeared". though they are there somewhere. also after some modifications the sections became unmovable on the main page. so if for example you would arrange your stuff by month too having always the actual one on top, you cannot do this easily any more. also, you put there and arrange your stuff with a lot of work and effort to squeeze in to some online tool. and then you will not be able to get it back or it just wants to reload all the stuff all the time and make you wait.. that can hold you back a lot. also, some features are not really usable offline. and it also has some limitations in the free version, but maybe a bit less than in the other tools. i'm sorry for this too. donno, if there is a chance that it will behave better.. so now i'm out of tools, at least good, usable ones again.. currently i just make my notes on my phone, not to go mad, but it is good only if you can finish your tasks on the same day or nearby. and harder for bigger plans, maybe once or with postponing things.. so i will need to get back to this question yet.

I think the worst thing is calling it "content". It's like generic slop for the eyes and ears. AI voices over explaining what was already obviously happening, or worse, AI voices explaining nonsensical drama from other nonsense channels. Canned music to force a feeling. If you scroll through 100 videos, how many times do you cross the same 4 or 5 background tracks? Virtual content for the sake of filling a virtual container is not a creative endeavor.

I totally agree, I had difficulty's with planning my homework and kept adjusting it. It was a nightmare why it did not work. So finaly I assigned myself each day a certain amount of time to do homework in general instead of something specifiek. And next to it, just a To-Do-List that should not grow too big. And check them of for positivity

I thought that we needed to fill all our supply time with the tasks we triage? Then there are not any really orphaned blocks to do this type of open task work?
@LifehackMethod
@LifehackMethod 5 ай бұрын
You should always be building UUW/flex time into your schedule - if no "fire drills" or emergency tasks come up to fill that time, that would be an orphan block. Or if you have a meeting that was scheduled for 2 hours and reschedules for/only lasts 1 - now you have an orphan block.
