I still play DDO regularly, in a permadeath guild on Sarlona. My static group broke up as the time slot no longer worked for a few people, but we still have a regular time at the weekend where we play with whoever is able to make it; and there are a few other regular time slots where the guild is active. I think that the slow vs fast playstyle is mostly about the player - I have a few friends who like this sort of dungeon-crawl style of gameplay, but even in a permadeath guild we have some faster players. If I solo it is usually to catch up to the right level for group play, but I did start a solo cleric last month as I was in the mood to do a bit of solo again. DDO is still a strong game after all these years. I have no plans to make more let's-play style videos for DDO, though - I am only soloing intermittently.

@ thanks for letting me know. If you ever change your mind about uploading any DDO I’m sure they would be watched and appreciated. I really did and still am enjoying your play throughs, exactly my style and not many if any other KZbinrs follow that. Well thanks anyway for the playlists and attempts you did back then. 😄 This character has archaeology 5 and can use a tech 2 relic analyzer which helps. But even at 4 it is possible to succeed most of the time - the bigger difference is experience with the minigame. wiki.eveuniversity.org/Hacking#Tips_and_Tricks has some good advice, in particular the rule of 6 improves one's success rate significantly. But you also get used to the sort of locations where the target node can be, and using the distances indicated by the numbers to minimise the number of nodes that you need to trigger. tl;dr you get better at it with practice, and I've done a lot of these.

The combat is easier than the capsuleer day combat sites, and it's accessible to much cheaper ships. The salavaging is hard though - you really want to have Salvaging 5 and use a tech II salvager, as I have here, for these courier sites otherwise it is very slow.

No, this is ratting with my corpmates. Most of my videos are solo because my corp is based in a wormhole - they can make better isk doing these sites than doing all the random stuff that I do :)

Here I was using www.eveworkbench.com/fitting/loki/993ca479-e708-486a-7391-08d9d2f078f1 - though obviously kinetic ammo would be better for this site. The fit was made more for rogue drones sites; I am trying out tengu fits instead for the serpentis sites now.

I didn't use to buy spell scrolls, since playing with what you find can be fun, but recently the drop rate of scrolls seemed to be really poor so I am buying a few on this run. Personally I add a restriction above the guild rules: I don't use the auction house to buy anything except tomes (haven't done even that in a long time, they are hard to afford anyway). And since my soloers don't group up at all, that means only found loot (plus the heirloom item) for weapons and armour.

I take plenty of damage in some of these fights - 07:20 was pretty scary, a nearly-game-over moment for permadeath. What makes it look effortless in much of the other fights is that Death Aura running, continually replenishing my HP. The dungeon is scaled for solo, of course; with a few other people in the quest, the vampire wouldn't be able to tank groups of Tharak Hounds alone. But yes, DDO has had plenty of power creep on both sides - this was probably in one of the periods where player power had outpaced the monsters a bit. Solo in this quest on hard today would be scary mostly due to the addition of champions, which were only added in the last two years, giving an unpredictable element of extra difficulty.

Thosirien nice. I used to play this game religiously lol. Took a several year hiatus and recently redownloaded it to see what all has changed. I'm going to be resuming my vip soon and used to play permadeath on my own a lot so it would be nice to meet some like minded people.

Nice. There have been plenty of updates to the game over the years so I expect you will find plenty to see. The guild website moved recently to extremeexplorers.enjin.com/ ; you can post a character name on there to get an invite to the guild. Or just find one of us online on the server; my characters all start with Thos so I'm easy to find if I am on.

Obscuring mist doesn't entirely blind even players, so I suspect it does not stop the AI seeing things at all. They are subject to the 20% miss chance on attacks, but the shamans are mostly dangerous for the lightning bolts and that doesn't count as an "attack" - it's on the target to make a dex save. So overall, it hardly hinders them I think.

I think that the wizards are the most entertaining - so this run (run 2), and run 8. They are both necromancers. Run 2 is also the one that got furthest.

Yes, it should be interesting - and champions were added after Thossilised, so this run should be quite different from the last one for that at least.
