What is the actual benefit of High intensity statin in evens where the LDLs HDLs are not an issue to worry about? I have seen practitioners who are favouring 150mg Aspirin over 81mg or 100mg, is there really a benefit to this on long term usage?
@clinicalpharmacycourse2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question! I am a bit confused as you started your question with high intensity statins, but then ended the question talking about aspirin 150 mg, which is not a statin! Are these 2 separate questions? In regards to high intensity statins benefit, there are 4 benefit groups I talk about in my clinical pharmacy course! They were found to highly reduce ASCVD risk, especially in patients with DM, and pts with high ASCVD risk percentage. Aspirin dosing in patients with coronary artery disease ranges from 75-160 mg in clinical studies and most guidelines reflect that too! So it's totally up to the clinician to choose a dose within this range. Make sure to visit my website clinicalpharmacycourses.com for more information on my clinical pharmacy course. All the best

Thank you for the explanation that has made me more enthusiastic about studying pharmacy to complete my bachelor's degree in pharmacy. I have a question, and I hope you would be willing to answer it. If a diabetic ulcer patient has a bacterial culture result showing Staphylococcus aureus, what antibiotic therapy should be given? Is using antibiotics that are active against gram-positive bacteria sufficient?
@clinicalpharmacycourse2 ай бұрын
Thank you for stopping by! Absolutely! Staph aureus is a gram positive bacteria, and using an antibiotic with gram positive coverage is crucial. In fact, I would start with an antibiotic that covers MRSA as diabetic patients are more prone to MRSA infections. I talk about that in my clinical pharmacy course, antimicrobial stewardship guidelines. Visit clinicalpharmacycourses.com and check out my unique clinical pharmacy course. All the best

@user-ly4we1lg3u Exactly! It's the type and quality of work that differs! As a clinical pharmacist, you most probably work at a hospital, round on patients with doctors and a medical team, write medication reviews, do therapeutic drug monitoring, participate in the code blue, manage toxicities and poisoning, that sort of stuff! In retail on the other hand, it's more about checking meds against prescriptions and counseling patients. Some places do blood sugar and lipids check, and almost always you'd be asked to vaccinate the community against Flu, Covid, and any other vaccines available in pharmacy.

Thanks for supporting the channel. If you're planning to apply for PEBC, you only need a bachelors degree. However, if you are planning a career pathway in academia, or clinical pharmacy, then a masters or PharmD would be great! You can do the masters in Canada, but PharmD degrees are undergrad so you'd have to redo your pharmacy degree to get a pgarmD degree which is impractical. I will post a video specifically for Indian based pharmacists as we have many on the channel and on my course. Please also check my online courses at www.clinicalpharmacycourses.com in case any would benefit you in the future. Many thanks

Is this information true or false? Anything that should be edited? Rivaroxaban is a type of medicine you call an anticoagulant. It makes your blood flow through your veins more easily. This means your blood will be less likely to make a dangerous blood clot. People who are at risk of developing a blood clot include those who have an irregular heartbeat, unstable angina, coronary heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, or recently had a surgery to replace a hip or knee joint. It's also used to treat people who have had a health problem caused by a blood clot, such as a stroke, a heart attack, a blood clot in the leg, or a blood clot in the lungs.
