Who cares what you call it, it's an awesome driving truck that meets the needs of 90% of most people. For the hardcore offroaders- they're building dedicated rigs anyway.

Just curious, why does the 80 and 100 have the same part number of the front ring gear even though they have different dimensions? My two cents re the argument, Prados are built tougher than most other Toyota, but the real LandCruisers are always built tougher (thicker steel for brackets and whatnot). The 250 is still a very capable car on- and off-road. Don't compare the specs of the 250 to the 200, which was designed 17yrs ago, compare it to the 300, whose design is only 3 yrs old. You'll see a much bigger difference. I imagine a Prado is still much more rugged than a Fortuner or 4Runner.

check your data, a 200 has way more torque than the 250

Prado is a Land cruiser, was always a Land Cruiser and first generation of Prado was the J70.
@crabgundyКүн бұрын
To me, the 250 is a LC Prado. Why? Because that is what it is sold as while the 300 is sold right next to it as the Land Cruiser.
@caseyhopkins6299Күн бұрын
It’s the first Prado that’s actually a Landcruiser, same platform. I know in the US you never got a V8 Diesel, that was the best part of the 200.almost none bought a petrol.

Very interesting! Great job bringing the real numbers into this convo, and cool to see the generations of diff gears all next to each other

I think J80 series wins the curb weight feature. The less weight you are, the better offroad performance.
@lukedowney2833Күн бұрын
60 series 70 series 80 series 100 series 200 series 300 series In Australia, the landcruser is the biggest in the range traditionally, and prado is the smaller varient that can hold less cargo in my humble opinion. This works down under, but now we are getting the tundra. If it was a wagon, it would be a megga landcruser 😂
@donkeyracer6551Күн бұрын
Nope! I consider it a regression. The next true LC is the 300 which I’ll bet we see in next 2 years. Strongly believe the 250 was supposed to be a 4Runner as the early redesigned 4Runner looked exactly like 250. Toyota panicked when 200 prices shot through roof during pandemic and scrambled to put this 250 together. Tow capacity and HP not on par. Compare 250 to 300 or LX600 and answer becomes clear. Too many vehicles in this space 250, 550, 4Runner. I’d rather have my 200 all day over the 250. It’s a $60k vehicle at best.

What makes a Land Cruiser is the Reliability, simplicity the feel the sound the name and obviously the Capability a little over worked 4 cylinder engine with multiple emission restrictions with over complicated plastics and electronic parts will never be worthy of the name Land Cruiser !

Could care less if it makes 2000 Hp no one is taking a over worked emissions engine to Tasmania the middle east or south america the 250 is a car for driving to walmart
@FranciscoHugoGarciaКүн бұрын
Short answer is no. Nobody is making videos trying to persuade you a 4runner or GX460 is a Land Cruiser before TOYOTA NA stops bring LC300 and calling LC250 Prado a Land Cruiser in USA. You basically just proofed your point.

Nothing like a good chart! I wasn't sure how I would feel about it being a 4 cyl hybrid, but I've been very impressed. It feels more like my FJ than the 200, but much more nimble and faster.

I appreciate the measurable and discrete comparison between these generations of Land Cruisers. Unfortunately the determination of “real” is a very subjective. I own a 200.3 LC and it is a much different flavor of LC than the 250 LC Prado…but both are real land cruisers. Keep up the great work.
@TinkerersAdventureКүн бұрын
Thanks for actually bringing the ring gears out on the table! Very insightful. It's puzzling why Toyota decided to put the 8.2" rear diff on the 250. Both Tacoma and 4runner iforcemax have 9.5" rear diff like the 200 series. The same goes to GX550.

I love your channel bro. I wish you would post some 200 series content. Cheers
@danpauls332320 сағат бұрын
Relative to the Tacoma and 4Runner (most trims), the LC is full-time 4WD, so the rear axle is sharing the engine output with the front axle - it doesn’t have to be as strong.

If the 300 series came to the US, what would they call it? King Land Cruiser? GX was always the Lexus version of the 4 Runner. now all of a sudden the GX is the Lexus version of the Land Cruiser? Nah.. LC250 is an upgraded 4Runner. And LX600 is real Lexus version of the Land Cruiser (300 series)
@chrisdiamond962Күн бұрын
I agree. Conveniently this review omitted the 300. BTW your channel is really good, your collection of LCs is sublime. I got a HDJ81 a few weeks ago. Lots of preventative maintenance to do atm. Got it cheap, it was stored for a long time and neglected. Hopefully I can bring it back to where it deserves to be.

The GX was never the Lexus version of the 4runner and has always been the version of the Prado, the international version of the LC 150 and now 250.
@CruisingTheLandКүн бұрын
@SpeedyNeo Really? so the 4 Runner was not the GX470, and GX460, and the Prado same as 4Runner? I know the tail lights and headlights may throw you off, but back then, they had specific frames that were not all shared beteeen Tacoma, Tundra, Land Cruiser/LX, 4Runner/GX, like they are now. The 4Runner, GX and Prado were all the same frame. Same body size, they are the same. Just renamed. Certainly you don't think a 200 series and GX were the same in 2016?
@SpeedyNeoКүн бұрын
@@CruisingTheLand Of course the 200 and the GX were never the same. There was an LX and there's still an LX which has always been the Lexus version of the 200 and now the 300. The GX is the lexus version of the Prado (i.e. 150 and 250.) The 4runner is a North American market specific SUV, just like the Tacoma is a North American specific truck, both were and are still built on the same platform.

Hi, I'm desperate to get these wheels and tires on my LC Premium. I live in Ontario, Canada and I approached my local dealership about ordering the Trailhunter wheels. They told me that Toyota will only sell these wheels to Trailhunter owners. In other words, they need a VIN. Is this true? Is there a workaround to purchase these wheels?

Not true, I have 20 in stock. I think we are the only dealer in the US stocking them, email [email protected] we can sell them via eBay and they will handle the international shipping.
