Thank you 😊 I always forget how vital the slower days are! Oh man I love an epic thunderstorm, we're still yet to see a good one from the bus, but I don't think I have to tell you it's going to be a pretty spectacular thing when it happens! Maybe.... Or it'll cause leaks to happen in places we didn't think they could 😂😂😂 Take care my friend 😊☀️🌻

Hi Di, take care in that area looks like there’s a lot of old mine shafts. Good luck because if the state government gets all the state parks turned in to national parks you won’t be able to take the dogs in them as well as a lot of other outdoor activities will be banned. Bloody pollies.

Hey there, I think this one gets a lot of dirt bikers so any dangerous parts at least on the pathways hopefully aren't there anymore :) interesting to hear though! As for dog friendly places, we definitely expect there will be some places that we won't be able to take them, but at least there's still plenty of beautiful spots that allow them on leash and our boys don't mind as long as they've got some miles run haha 😂❤️🐕

Good Morning, It's a KZbin day. Not creating - watching and catching up.....!! 🙂 My guess for the build was $60,000. It really was incredible to see this video and to see the whole thing from woe to go. Over time you do tend to forget some of the finer details. Foraging and 2nd hand items are such a god send. And would have reduced you costs significantly, as would have all the work you did yourselves. And it is such a beautiful little home, very cosy - but portable. Congratulations a job well done, you should both be very, VERY proud! Well, back to the farm - I think one of my heifers fell in a fresh wombat hole overnight and has broken it's leg! Could be an interesting couple of days, not! Take care, Susan. xxx

I would have picked $65k for your build base off my build. I have just ordered custom seats for the family and will be ordering my solar system very soon as the next major purchase. After that it's the toilet, shower and cooktop that are the major purchases for my build. It the time spent which I have invested is the major 'cost', I wish I have xounted the amount of hours spent so far but if I were to guess about 300ish hours so far. I also wish I had made a video progress channel like yours, but I don't have the time to edit lol
@DiandSam
@DiandSam 10 күн бұрын
Yes I think those who have done a build out of a bus or a home really understand the cost behind it all, and even then it can go either way!! Wow custom seats man your rig is going to be a beast, I'm really excited, it sounds like you're getting pretty close to the finish line yourself! Haha you know what I did a calculation of our labour, and working 6 hours, 3 days a week for a year at $155, which is what most tradies charge was like $140,000. You can't tell me doing it yourself doesn't save a huge chunk of change!!! Right!! Oh man yeh recording the videos while building is a huge feat, I don't blame you. I think the only reason we were able to stay consistent with it is because we had been documenting the homestead the 2 years previously in anticipation and even then it was really hard some days! So cool to look back on. Even photos are great;

@DiandSam
@DiandSam 15 күн бұрын
Average rent now a days is min 400 a week Groceries normally for us at least about 150-250 a week Going out min $400 that's if you go out once a week for dinner and movie. Phone bills average 50-60 a month Fuel min 200 for the month = $1700 minimum AUD I mean it all depends on how you live and where but I'd say that is all a base line.

Hello there folks. Love the this video, you are quite right - there is 'so much' a person can do even if they are in a city and renting. Acquire knowledge and skills, they will never go astray. Breadmaking, learning how to use tools, learning how to make 'and' mend. Growing things and fermenting - I even ferment my chickens feed (been working on a video about that!). For many years my vegie garden was all in pots, albeit BIG pots - but pots, and it worked well. Well, time to chuck another log on the fire, and take my old, OLD girl on a bit of a wander. Take care. Just found your channel. When you moved from Melbourne what was your criteria for choosing your new location? And what differences have you found between living & homsteading in Nsw compared to Vic? (Other than the weather) 😊
@DiandSam
@DiandSam 20 күн бұрын
Love this question! First of all welcome :) We chose based on community and what we enjoyed doing. Where we picked we get the benefits of being close to the coast and mountains which we love to explore and play in (camping, swimming) As for the community in the area, i contacted councils and this particular one was really open to alternative housing and sustainability. The people too are very permaculture focused. We also had friends in the area so knew we wouldn't be completely alone when starting from scratch, and last but not least it allowed our family to have easy access to us because the airport was near. being travellers this was very important. As for differences for homesteading between the states theres not a lot, NSW is warmer so soil is warmer and I can grow more. Vic has very dry soils, but thats mainly where Ive been, i can't say itd be the same everywhere.

Just came after reading the thumb nail to say, BUY LAND. The longer you wait the more it will cost, don't wait or waste a single 1$ on anything else, vanlife etc will just cost more again on assets that devalue rapidly. you will never get that $20k back for a caravan etc, just buy the land and start, you can always sell and move on but rent and a $50k bus = $20k back, $50k land no rent and = $60k back even if you don't touch it. Basic fact, there is no room to expand a mobile shelter. Land gives the option to expand even if it is just a second, third mobile shelter and some relocatable shipping containers, the ASSET is the land.
