I went there twice as a youngster in 1972 and 1976. Was always fascinated with the glass window at the entrance into the pool.

EK has had the heart ripped out of it. When I lived in the Murray in the 70s, we all had council houses and we were happy with that. I left to come to Tokyo in 82, but I go back to EK every year to visit friends. It’s a big mismatch of so-called bought houses now. A competition of mortgages and people carrier cars. I’m glad I’m not part of it now, and wonder if it has a future.

@@lizcampbell2354 my mistake. I think I remember a Liz Campbell and her wee sister Suzanne . I looked at that last shot of the road up to St Brides. That was the bus stop I used to get back to the Murray most days. Buses with a back platform, without a door. How did we survive 😱

Thank you for sharing this. I worked there from 1974 - 79, and this evoked many memories. It was shared with a group of competitive swimmers and lifesavers from that era. It has also been shared with sport and leisure management professionals. Strange to see the Provost lighting up a ciggie at the top table. Thank you for sharing it.

Don, some mates and I used to sneak in as it was getting built.....and walk about the tiled pool area before obviously it was completed.... No Security then....in we go.....I have to say we caused no damage.... Before then a friend of mine from the Calderwood and I used to bus it into Townhead baths I Glasgow.....1/3d Return.... and then for a couple of years hitch hiked it into Rutherglen to the new baths there before the Dollan baths opened..... When The Dollan opened there where massive cues to get in ..... Happy Happy Days......
