For me a k hole happens when i do the right amount of ketamine. Not too much. I do it to k hole. I love the feeling of dissociation. Ketamine is like no other psychedelic in that regard. You don’t go into complete darkness in a k hole, it isn’t a whole. You are floating around in your own imagination. You always feel like your floating. That can be scary maybe for some people who can’t let go of their own ego or try to cling onto reality because it literally shatters any semblance of reality. Its hard to explain a k hole cause its is just so unexplainable. Every time i have been in one i have always questioned reality because of how much it shatters my perception of reality every single time i enter a k hole.

I’ve been in the neuro ICU for 6 months now and it’s been so difficult taking care of patients that should be on comfort care but are full code. I know that sounds terrible but seeing patients who are brain dead and all we are doing is just keeping their body alive has taken an emotional toll on me.

I very badly smashed my femur 15 days ago, the paramedics put me in the hole as the only way to move and transport me. These folks saying they loose partial movement and orientation are not even close. I was on jupiter, it reminded me of the 90's and apparently I kept asking for rave music! I would never want to go that far without being monitored by professionals, but would absolutely enjoy it again although without the bones breaking and major surgery lol. Interestingly I feel great in my mind since the hole. Stick with MDMA for recreation.

To be a rapid response nurse you do not have to have all of those certifications that she mentioned. A good nurse knows how to respond to any situation although some experience in critical care/ER or even acute care helps. They don’t undermine the RNs who have worked bedside for yearsbecause they know a hell of a lot more than you give them credit for

"It could be worse" I learned this as an ICU patient. From this I learned thankful and grateful. Thankful is not worse, and grateful for my current condition. 400lbs in my back leaving me with 18 broken bones and a punctured lung (10 vertibrae, 7 ribs, and left scapula. Plus a lot of other damage) I am now working through nursing school to be an ICU nurse myself.

Bias lyrics, in cpr, the RR ought to be what is normal for their age, and to bag or breat after the compression, NIT on compression! The bagnask volume is 1000 mls, half is 500 MLS which is the normal tidal volume for an adult or a big teenager! Teaso why it ought to be that it's nirmal RR is to prevent or treat acidosis in stagnant circulation and hypoventilation.

When their breaths are short and sharp that means liquid in the lings with RR > 24. Aperson should be breathing at 14-16. Those sharp breath can be silent, the breaths sound should give you a clue! Do an egg and an X Ray, it is usually a silent slow CHF coming up!

I'm inclined to disagree with her opinion on travelers (at 46:45). I can't imagine that these healthcare systems "save money with travelers" because the hospitals are paying a ton more money to these agencies for a nurse, and arguably more than they'd pay a staff nurse. I traveled myself, and I was making upwards of 10K a month on an assignment, which is more than double what I made as a staff nurse in the same position. It's definitely not the agency's paying out our wages, meal vouchers, housing stipends, relocation costs etc... the hospitals shell out a shit ton of money... and sure, a lot of it goes to the nurse they get, but the agencies themselves have their goal profit margins too. As a nurse manager now with access to the budget spreadsheets, I know what we pay or agency and comparing it to what we pay staff... it's signiicantly more. So I can't understand how agency would help save money....
@CUPOFNURSES
@CUPOFNURSES 2 ай бұрын
You have a good perspective. In my opinion I’ve thought that since Agency nurses are temporary the hospital saves money not having to pay a nurse year round, including the benefits. I could be wrong but isn’t bringing on a temp for a few months cheaper than having to hire a staff nurse and keep them on?
@DiegoLeggo
@DiegoLeggo 2 ай бұрын
@@CUPOFNURSES It widely depends on what your staffing needs are.. if your census fluctuates so much that you can't guarantee full time hours for all the nurses you have on staff, it definitely makes more sense to hire agency. However, if your staffing shortage is directly related to low retention rates, it's highly probable that it's due to issues with that facility itself: Poor staff morale, bad working conditions, unsafe practices, poor management in general. These are the hospitals who have travelers all year round. I worked at a hospital where we had a travel nurse, who renewed her contract every 13 weeks like 4 times until the hospital wouldn't allow her to anymore. Bottom line is: It benefits the hospital SO much more if they just listen to the staff and fix all the issues that are deterring nurses from wanting to work there. This is not to disparage agency nurses, but they're more likely to make a mistake, or in some cases not really care enough about the quality of their work. This inherently negatively impacts quality measures and patient outcomes, which then inevitably results in higher rates of grievances/complaints, poor reviews, poor reputation which circles back to... yes you guess it: Nurse referrals/applications. Personally, my philosophy is: Good management curates good work environment, which makes for happy nurses, which leads to good quality care, which leads to positive outcomes for patients then positive reviews, positive reputation, more patient referrals, and more eager nurses looking for work. I believe that the culture in any facility is a direct reflection of the people at the top, and trickles down to the patient.

It's a rare case of a business taking a more long-term view: agency / travel nurses are at no risk of unionization and can be let go much more easily than staff nurses. It's not so much a financial move as it is a power play.

I thought the CCU/ICU would be a good fit for me, but it's incredibly challenging. People assume it's easy because "you only have one or two patients," but they're mistaken. Working in these intense units means your senses need to be heightened for over 12 hours a shift, always in overdrive, not to mention the meticulous documentation required. It's quite literally a game of chess against the patient's illness throughout the shift..
@CUPOFNURSES

That’s true. The nurses that say ICU is easy have most likely been doing it for years. That being said I don’t think any unit is easy at all. It’s just how you adapt and the type of person you are. Different nurses fit different units and that perfect
