Great list TY as some of these racks were not even on my radar! I'm torn between the Sherpa Crestone, Cali Raised with hide away front light, the new Prinsu Pro, Backwoods Drifter rack or the Westcott Designs. So many great choices and I'm so torn!

Do you mean shade? Shade is still great inside the tent if you cover the windows. It's a pretty fresh tent inside. But yes, outside of the tent, it doesn't offer much shade! offroadtents.com/products/overland-vehicle-systems-mamba-3-hardshell-rooftop-tent

@OffRoadTents like a rain cover on windows the keeps sun from blasting you too is what I'm talking about. That's the only think it missing 100%.

@@JavierPadron I see what you mean. It does have the rainfly that protects the entrance to the tent from rain and sun. And although there isn't a rainfly for the side windows, these can be closed from the inside with a waterproof canvas cover!

Nigel, thanks for the comment. Yeah, the Prinsu is a fantastic rack. I personally used to run one over a Tacoma I had and I loved how easy it was to remove the slats or add them, even with stuff on them. Glad to know you get to use the sunroof on your 80 series!

You're right! Our bad! South Korea 100%. They manufacture at their own facility in South Korea. As to wedge tents, people are still buying them, we see a lot of sales for the OVS Mamba, for example. But the side opening hard shells are being sold more nowadays, probably due to the space.

Beautiful job! Do you by any chance know how much a rack setup on top like that, with the tent and such in place, how much that will drop average mpg by? Especially on long highway drives. And if I put one of those sloped windscreens infront of it, how much that might lessen the drop off of average mpg? That mpg effect is really my main concern. Thanks.

This is exactly the same as the AquaHeat shower which is the Australian version sold in Australia. Kakadu wants us stupid rich American sheep to pay $500 for the exact same thing which only costs $215 in Australia! I just bought an Aquaheat from Australia including shipping I paid $323. Anyone want to buy one I'll get you one from Australia for $380 shipped to your door. I think $50 profit for me is ok 😂

I casually have the same ARB Base Rack and the same Oasis Water Tank (yes, I have been in Costa Rica hahaha and I just bought one and put it over my previous Thule bars) How is this Oasis water tank attached to the base rack? they really cashed in on the t slot, it;s great geear and if you're just amature diy it's perfect but if you know what's up you can save a fortune by putting together/modding used kits. there's easy over 5k of gear there if bought it direct. I put together a bunch of brand new random frontunner kits to build same as this basically and only paid 1k. Also, No way I would ever pay retail for the accessories, great gear but so expensive. The Track is what makes it special and that's the basis for all addons. once you have that you can do your own accessories for 1/10th or less

Hi just found this video. Got a question, can this be turned so that the front opening can be towards the back of my dodge ram truck? Want to not use the floor and make the extra room go around the bed of my truck

Hey @teamislander00, to answer your question, yes you can definitely open it towards the back of your Ram truck. All you need is to change the position of the tent, and depending on the roof rack you have, that could also mean changing the direction of the tent rails so it's easier to attach it to your rack. Does this tent create a lot of noise while driving and how does it affect gas usage?

Gavin, like any roof top tent, it'll both make some noise and affect gas usage. The noise isn't that much to be fair, if you already have a platform rack you won't even hear the difference. If you've never had a rack, then yes, you will realize there is a whistling sound. It's not unbearable, but I cannot lie, there is some noise. As to mpg, depends totally on what you drive, the tires, etc, etc. But short answer is yes, it will reduce the mpg from 5 to 15% depending on other factors.
