I'd say Jonathan would've been a better choice to have the final battle with against DIO. He should've been the one that's immune to DIO's delete, because DIO himself still uses a Jonathan's body; removing Jonathan's existence would create a paradox. And it would end where it all began, with the first Dio vs Jojo rivalry.
