Story script: Hi, I’m Lisa. I’d like to share my evening routine with you. My workday usually ends at 5:30 pm. After work, I typically take the subway home and stop by the gym for an hour-long workout. It’s a great way to unwind and stay active. But sometimes, I don't feel like going to the gym. On those days, I enjoy a peaceful walk home by the river. The fresh air and the sound of the water are very relaxing. Occasionally, I also like to meet a friend for a cup of coffee or dinner. It’s a nice way to catch up and chat about our day. When I get home, the first thing I do is put my feet up and rest for a bit. I might watch Netflix or KZbin videos. It’s my way of decompressing after a long day at work. I enjoy cooking, so during the week, I usually prepare something simple for dinner, like pasta or soup. These days, I’m trying to eat healthier because I care about staying fit. I start my meals with a salad before having protein and carbs, which I’ve heard helps keep my blood sugar spikes low. One of my dreams is to work abroad one day, so I’m focusing on improving my English. To achieve this, after dinner, I take an online English course every day. Each lesson is 30 minutes long, which is just the right amount of time. It’s long enough to practice but short enough to keep it fun. I take a shower in the morning, so in the evening, I just brush my teeth and wash my face before bed. I follow a simple skincare routine, applying vitamin C serum, snail mucin essence, and night cream to keep my skin healthy. After that, I’m ready to go to bed. I like to read a novel in bed before falling asleep. Reading novels helps me forget about the stress from work and learn about other people’s lives. This is my evening routine, and it helps me feel fresh and organized every night.

Script: Hi, I'm Sarah. My little son, Oliver and I had so much fun baking a healthy and yummy cake this afternoon. Oliver is only 4 years old, so we put a stool for him to stand on. We started with grating carrots. As we grated the carrots, Oliver asked, "Mommy, why are carrots orange?" I smiled and replied, "That's just their color, sweetie. They’re full of vitamins that help us see better, especially in the dark!" After the carrots were ready, we mixed the dry ingredients together. "Can I pour the flour, Mommy?" Oliver asked, his eyes bright with excitement. "Of course!" I said, handing him the measuring cup. He carefully poured the grated carrots and flour into the bowl. Next, we added maple syrup, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. "Now we need to mix the wet ingredients," I explained. I let him crack eggs into a separate bowl and stir them with a fork. "Be gentle, Oliver, we don't want any shells in our cake!" I reminded him. He giggled and said, "I’m a good stirrer, Mommy!" Then, we added coconut oil and vanilla extract to the eggs. "It smells so good!" Oliver said, sniffing the vanilla bottle. "Yes, it does! Vanilla makes the cake taste extra delicious," I told him. We combined the wet and dry ingredients, and I let Oliver stir everything together. "It’s like magic, Mommy!" he said as the batter turned smooth. "Yes, it is!" I agreed, smiling at his joy. Finally, we folded in some chopped walnuts. "Can I taste it?" Oliver asked, looking at the batter with wide eyes. I laughed and said, "Not yet, my love. We have to bake it first." We poured the batter into a cake pan, and I helped Oliver carefully put it in the oven. "How long, Mommy?" he asked. "We’ll bake it for 40 minutes at 180 degrees," I said. "Then we can enjoy our delicious carrot cake together!" As the cake baked, the kitchen filled with a warm, sweet smell. When it was ready, we let it cool and then had a slice. "This is the best cake ever, Mommy!" Oliver said with a big smile. "It’s because we made it together," I said, giving him a hug. "I love baking with you, Oliver." And that’s how we made our special carrot cake! "To bake" means to cook food, especially cakes, bread, or pastries, by dry heat in an oven. For example, "She loves to bake cookies on the weekends." "Yummy" means delicious or very tasty. For example, "The pizza was so yummy that I had three slices." "Stool" means a small seat without a back or arms, often used at a counter or bar. For example, "He sat on the stool at the kitchen counter to eat his breakfast." "To grate" means to shred food into small pieces by rubbing it against a grater. For example, "She grated some cheese for the pasta." "Ingredients" are the foods or substances that are combined to make a dish. For example, "The main ingredients in the salad are lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers." "To pour" means to cause a liquid to flow from a container. For example, "He poured some juice into a glass." "Flour" is a powder made by grinding grains, used in baking and cooking. For example, "She used flour to make the dough for the bread." "Pinch" means a small amount of something, typically used with salt or spices. For example, "Add a pinch of salt to the soup." "Crack (eggs)" means to break open an egg to get the contents out. For example, "She cracked the eggs into the mixing bowl." "Shells" are the hard, outer coverings of eggs, nuts, or seeds. For example, "He carefully removed the shells from the peanuts." "To remind" means to make someone remember something they might have forgotten. For example, "She called to remind him about the meeting tomorrow." "To giggle" means to laugh lightly in a silly or nervous way. For example, "The children giggled at the funny clown." "To sniff" means to breathe in air through the nose in order to smell something. For example, "The dog sniffed the ground, searching for the scent." "To stir" means to mix a substance by moving an object, such as a spoon, through it. For example, "He stirred the sugar into his coffee." "To combine" means to mix two or more things together to form a single substance. For example, "Combine the sugar and butter until smooth." "Batter" is a liquid mixture of ingredients used in cooking, especially for cakes or pancakes. For example, "She poured the pancake batter onto the hot griddle." "To fold" means to gently mix a lighter ingredient into a heavier one. For example, "Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture carefully."
