Take the lift-arm off of the shaft on the motor-gear housing. Note the position of the square hub of the shaft.Turn the knob manually, (using a screwdriver, bolt, etc, by inserting it into one of the holes, and cranking it, will make this step go quicker) Turn until the square shaft has made a 180 degree turn. Reattatch the lift-arm, and try it. The stripped part will now be at mid-travel, causing a slight bump when going up or down, but the grinding should stop. IF it's not TOO stripped!
