I find that if I roll my clothes they are less wrinkled when I arrive. Although, with shirts, I have the (professional) laundry heavy starch and fold my cotton shirts and I put them either flat on the top &/or bottom of my suitcase. Otherwise, I have found that wool and silk will de-compress faster (especially when steamed in the bathroom) than any other fibers. Also, wear a suit jacket on the plane -- you'll receive better service -- and put the rest of the suit in your carry-on (you may need it as soon as you land). My doctors call me severe ADHD w/audio processing difficulties. And I'm a senior. I only fly on business. Glad I found your channel! Thanks

I am sooo glad I found a travel video that mentions packing fidget toys and comfort items 😊! I always need to travel with my mini Rubik’s cube for comfort, fidgeting, or something to do for entertainment if I get bored and don’t want to use my phone. Also something more useful than “just pack neutrals”. Neutral items are helpful, but I definitely need at least a few items with colors, and hate the idea of wearing black for every outfit.

Love your channel. it's amazing the lil tips and tricks that make track for an ND more effective. Re your tech stuff. I found it SO much more helpful to label each cord by it's literal purpose i.e. camera, phone, laptop instead of a colour. it takes a very small amount of memory to track which cord goes with what but when i am tired and rushing, not needing that wee bit of brain power means i am a bit less likely to skip a charging opportunity.

Anker makes a couple of power banks (external batteries) that come with a short attached cable, great for on the go without having to carry an extra (and longer) cable. (You also only really need to pack a travel plug, once you need to recharge the battery itself.)

After my last group tour, which I did just after my diagnosis. The traveling agency told me that I needed more guidance.. from then on I became a solo traveler.. and learned a lot of lessons a long the way.. and also the reason behind why I can't travel in group. I just stop functioning as soon as I am in a group (2 or more..sometimes one!) With functioning I mean: can't or have trouble to eat, sleep, toilet, hygiëne and self care. I can't work around because it is due to having internalized pda. So I can get extremely frustrated and lonely because I can't connect with them or take care of myself. I need them to see me and help me without frightening me😅 Which isn't easy.. for anyone including my parents and current guidance counselor.
@w.vangaal10772 ай бұрын
During my solo traveling I will join guided tours or audio tours (solo). Because that's on my own term and usually in a manageable group. But this is also depended on the guide and what/why I am taking the tour. Eating can be a problem still.. because I get overwhelmed. So I become vegan or vegetarian to limited choices. For coffee I go to specialty coffee shops. Because I love the vibe.. and they usually very calm. The biggest problem is that I want and need to talk to others. And when you are traveling solo and not socially strong this can lead to frustration. So i call my guidance counselor on set times and dates. Which helps a lot but it is still challenging.. especially during citytrip.. it is better when I do my solo bike tours because I follow well known routes and people are always curious about the girl on her bike.. and I will meet other cyclist and talk to them how they do every thing. I have learned some basic tips that where very helpful. On how to take breaks, what and when to eat and drink, etc.
@BetterNeurodivergentTravel2 ай бұрын
Love your approach to solo travel! Joining tours and hitting up coffee shops sounds like a chill way to explore. Are you joining day tours / walking tours? I probably didn't make it as clear as I could, but they're also the perfect solution to avoiding full on social and sensory overwhelm!
@w.vangaal10772 ай бұрын
@@BetterNeurodivergentTravel in general not a planned day trip. It too much, too long, too quick.. only if have to or it is better for my budget I will see.. But I need a day off afterwards...so I would rather plan myself which gives me more control. But because I love cycling I will go on a biking tour. Free walking tours can be fun but sometimes crowed.. that why I switched to payed guided tours usually from the tourist office. Better guides and smaller groups.
@w.vangaal10772 ай бұрын
@@BetterNeurodivergentTravel My biggest lesson: travel far enough until you meet yourself.. and some things don't magically disappear when you are on vacation. For some neurotypicals their struggles feel less.. for me it is not. For example I have selective mutism so asking or saying something is a huge task..especially when it is not my native language. It has frustrated me but I doesn't mean I can't travel. Or just getting lost because I can't read maps. I have done some trial and error trips close to home. To see what comes up. Like I can't visit museums or galleries because it overwhelms me..if I really want to either a guide or audiotour and a day off afterwards. Same for eating out something I usually don't do. But I have to do it more often to make it easier during trips.. if someone would ask me for tips this is what I would advise. Start close to home... trial and error until you meet yourself or your boundaries.

My main tip for flights is to put your liquids and electronics in the most accessible and hussle free point of your bag so you can take it out extremely easily without having to empty half of your bag at security screening. For me it was a game changer and when you arrive at the gate or a more comfortable place you can stuff your liquids anywhere you want since they don't matter for boarding (usually I divide them between those I use on the flight and those I use only at the hotel)
@BetterNeurodivergentTravel2 ай бұрын
