The whole travesty of classical piano performance nowadays lays on the fact that nearly ANY performance freedom of practitioners (not already accomplished concert pianists) is accounted for as a "mistake". With this logic, we could very well build a robot that gives the single perfect performance of a piece without "mistakes" and get it over with. Fuck this logic and all competitions of this kind - here you see a perfect example of what complete freedom - and a genius behind it - can offer. Beat that, conservative conservatory teachers and judges of nothing.

@ChrisBreemer Your clever opinion : "Technically, an awesome tour de force. Musically, a sick travesty of one of Dvorak's most lovely pieces. I'm sure the composer would have been horrified." Who are you man ? Here is your video of how "correctly" you play this music. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5Obe6Wgjr2Um68 Aren't you ashamed of yourself? How dare you take Cziffra in your mouth? You don't know anything ! You are raeal talentless unimaginative flayer. You play the piano like children, and you still dare to criticize Cziffra? My mind stops!

I'm a lifelong pianist and a pro since age 13. When I discovered this video, about 2010, I showed my Dad (also a musician). I expected him to be floored by it, given how objectively stunning it is. I thought it would be like showing a climbing enthusiast a video of someone climbing Mt Everest blindfolded in shorts and flip flops. I put the video on and about 45 seconds in my Dad turns to me and says: "You don't want to sound like that, do you?" I could hardly have been more shocked if he'd grown a pair of antlers. At that moment I realised how truly esoteric genuine musical virtuosity really is, even to a lifelong musician and music lover like my Dad.

I mean you're a lifelong pianist and a pro since age 13 but you cant realize this is absolutely fake. This video has been accelerated. Thats very noticeable since you can hear its played in D major instead of C. The artifical acceleration increased the pitch
@godisbollocks
@godisbollocks 4 ай бұрын
@heta04 Caravan is not in the key of C, it's in the key of F minor. C just happens to be the first chord. Perhaps think on that point for a moment before calling my knowledge into question. Also, can you clearly see from the video that he is not playing in the key of G minor, as you hamfistedly allege? There's nothing to prevent him from playing this in any key he wishes.
