Happy to see y'all are sticking with it! Would be interested to know what advice (if any) you are getting from local bowlers in the area as you go on your journey... sometimes having someone to talk though an issue with live can make all the difference!

Good work both of you! Thank you for being good sports on the reverse granny! Since you went through it, if you want, at my next practice, I will do a handicap for a game. You get to name the handicap and I will film it for your entertainment.

I want to know if granny style is better than reverse granny style. So play granny style (facing towards the pins) and see if you can beat my score of 100!

So I just wrapped up bowling practice and doing the granny style for you. It was definitely harder than I thought! I will post up the video of it so you can watch.

Sorry to hear that your ball got damaged. It is good that they fixed it. I had that happen to me on my Black Widow 2.0. The ball return made a huge groove around the whole ball and took a big chunk out of it as well. The pro shop there repaired it, but I inspect my bowling balls after every throw now due to that.

In my 2 hand setup, my finger holes and grips are not tight. I would see if they can maybe widen the holes a bit and get one size larger grips. Definitely ask the pro shop about it.

I was in my normal alley today and had them inspect the work. They did a good job fixing it, and they kept my business because of it. Everything will go wrong eventually, but it’s how you handle once it does that matters, and they made it right in the end. While I was there I had them put new grips in the ball that are larger. The ball leaves my fingers way easier, however I find that I still like bowling with my pinky and ring finger.

You'll kinda get used to the scuffs. I bought a retired ball, the Brunswick Infinity, and absolutely loved that ball for the 15 games I got with it before it came back from the return with 70 gouges in it, ranging from 1/4" to 3" long and clear through the coverstock. I've got another waiting for drilling, but you never forget your first. 😂 This was fun watching your first experience with a personal ball. After this, you'll never want to go back to house balls! Also, you're about to get a TON of advice on here (it's the bowler way), and I suggest giving it a try. I've asked plenty of questions online, since I can't find a coach around here, and went from a 45 typical score to 170s typically and up to 211. I started bowling this January.

This sadly just happened to me this week with my new ball. The bowling alley said they would try to fix it, and then the pro shop over sanded one line and left a really nasty flat spot. I left the ball there for management to look at, but I’m currently out a ball at the moment. I have gotten a TON of advice, and most of it has been really helpful! My average is already going up. 45 to 170’s is some serious progress! Great job, and keep up the good work!

The biggest tips is to stand to the right try and throw ball over 2nd arrow and make sure your hand is on the side of the ball not underneath it. This will make you more accurate

Thank you for the comment! With this ball I have found that I can really move around the lane more, especially as my release is getting better. I have found that standing left and aiming at the third arrow works pretty well for me (at least it did this week). However if I bowl with a house ball that’s exactly what I have to do, move right and aim around the second arrow

I did some release practice myself today (Tuesday). Did 4 games where the first game was mainly warm up. The second and third were release drills at the foul line and the final game was putting it all together. I am getting much more consistent in hitting my mark and releasing properly. Keep practicing and working at it! Your muscle memory will get there! For the handicap, granny the ball backwards (facing away from the pins through the legs!).

My next recording session after this video was my first time doing foul line drills, and they did seem to help a lot. I also spent a lot of time at home doing slow motion releases onto a carpeted floor and I learned a ton about my release! That’s next week’s video. It’s great to hear that you are improving. Keep up the good work! As for the handicap, I see you aren’t taking it easy on me! I have my work cut out for me that week

The idea of getting lower is a good one but I would recommend being careful with how you try to implement... if possible, you'd like to try to stay away from really rounding your back and reaching with your torso to get down to the line. Ideally, you can leverage a little bit more of a knee bend and start to get your legs into the shot. It feels like bowling is all upper body but realistically a solid base can make or break you. It often looks like you're bowling on a stiff front side, with your left leg bracing you against the impact instead of embracing it and sliding to a stop (partially because of the house shoes if I were to bet). Getting the proper tempo and timing in your legs really sets the foundation for the rest of it!

Practice is indeed important! I try to practice at least one day a week for a couple hours doing drills. The final practice game, I try to use as a gauge as to see how the drills went. I am currently in the process of switching to 2 hand bowling style as my wrist and arm from 1 hand isn't doing too well. I did also notice is that when you pull left on your throw, you are tensing up your bowling arm a little too much. I would say to try and keep the bowling arm as relaxed as you can during your swing. This should lessen the pulling to the left and maybe help with it feeling weird when you release the ball on your wrist. Keep up the practicing and you will definitely see improvement! I look forward to seeing how you progress over time!

I have noticed the tension in my arm also. Practice has been going really well though, and that is getting better. How is your transition to 2 handed bowling going? Has it affected your average score after switching?
@IMArran
@IMArran Ай бұрын
@@TheNewCreationBowling It definitely has. Currently, I can average around the 150s doing 2 hand bowling. It is definitely more leg focused and I still tend to pull left a bit, but that is what practice is for! :)

Watch other KZbin videos on your styles, drew I recommend Tom Daugherty. Brandon I recommend learning a 4 step approach finishing with your left leg also try to lose the hop and just have a smooth cadence.

Thank you for the comment! I will definitely watch Tom Daugherty. I desperately need to learn and practice a good release. I’ve been really struggling with the new ball. I’ll let Brandon know you commented. After watching the footage he is already trying to get rid of “the hop” (video hopefully coming soon). I think it would be really interesting to watch him bowl two handed though 🤔

@@TheNewCreationBowling I started bowling about two years ago as a two hander, if he wants to hook the ball that’s the way to go. It’s harder to get a lot of revs with your thumb in the ball.

Good start with the new balls you two! I also throw the VIP. The trick with that ball is to make sure it gets out to the dry (where the friction is) so the core makes the hook. If the ball stays in the oil too long, it will mainly just skid too much and not have any back end reaction. Keep up with the practice and you will get see solid progress! You both got this!
