Because our dogs do cooperative care and enjoy grooming, you assume they are drugged? None of our dogs are drugged. It’s called training.

@HopeServiceDogs NOT accusing you of anything, just my opinion. From what I've seen in the videos I've watched the dogs not respond to anything. I've had dogs ALL my life & I'm 76. I also am a long time animal rescuer, mostly bully dogs but smaller breeds as well. Ive also worked with trainers in dealing with abandoned & abused dogs over many years, so I'm very keyed into reading a dogs behavior. But the dogs I've seen in these videos just lay down with absolutely no reaction to having their ears rubbed & filled with medication. So I'm just wondering how legit they are. But as I said, I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just voicing my opinion.

@ one of my malinois, years ago, hated having his nails done. He would gator roll. My husband learned ninja moves to hold him down so I could get in and do his nails quick. He hated it. I knew there had to be a better way. So I used “name and explain” and “if/then statements” from Synalia (also check out Training Between The Ears, which is easier to understand.) I had already worked with Arrow (the malinois) on knowing the names of his body parts. So I started telling him what needed done and asking permission. “Arrow. If I dremel one nail for one second, then you can lick off the plate of bacon and eggs.” And held out my hand for him to give me his paw. He did and I did one second. I didn’t lie. He got the plate to lick off. That was Monday. We did it three times a day (cause I had three plates from my son, husband and myself). By Friday I could do all his nails with his cooperation. He learned to love nail time and would jump on the grooming table to ask for it. Same thing when he got surgery. Instead of forcing to take the sedation shot, I told him what we needed (a shot in his arm, right here) and held out my hand for him to place his arm/paw. He did it. Because I treated him as a sentient being, asking permission and waiting for him to grant it, instead of forcing it. Now we do it with every dog.

@HopeServiceDogs GREAT job. My boy was a rescue, got him young, but whoever had him first trained him real well. He knew every command. He asks for permission to sit on any chair or couch. He doesn't mind bathing but refuses to walk in rain, LOL. He has never had an accident in the house & I have him for 7 years. And he totally understands everything I say to him. Just a sweet, smart boy. He lets me brush his teeth every day. But I let my vet do his nails as they are all black and I'm always afraid of hurting him. But his ears are a constant problem because they are big and floppy and he sticks his head into everything, so its always dirty. But I love him to death. I just hate the struggle with his ears. I guess I'm gonna have to do some positive reinforcement & since he loves to play I'll just make it game, LOL
