A very informative vlog and seemed fun to drive unless the accident occurred. How much do you rate regarding thai people driving manners in countrywide or regionwide?
@thejauntingape
@thejauntingape 10 күн бұрын
Thanks for the view and comment! Thai drivers, for the most part, are law abiding and easy to share the road with. What I found is the scooters in the congested areas around the cities love to push their way through, and I was always on edge about them damaging my car as they get quite close, however they never succeeded in damaging it! On the highways, it was the unloaded pickup trucks and any luxury SUVs or cars that got to me. The drivers operating these vehicles love to play hogs of the road, and often speed up to you and try to scare you out of the lane, trying to pass you on the shoulder of the road instead of a lane. To avoid this, I try to make sure I am not in the fast lane when I dont need to be. If there is no room for me to leave the lane, I hit my hazard lights and hold my ground, ensuring they cant get between me and the shoulder of the road.

The reason why you think your head lights are crappy at night is that your window is tinted and absorbs so much of the light. I'm driving a car and a truck in Thailand every time I'm there. The truck only has the top tinted, the car has the complete window tinted. Guess which one I prefer at night. New mobile phones which support L5 GPS as well have much less issues with the stacked roads in and around Bangkok as they have much higher precision and altitude values to see on which level you currently are. Get to know the position delay of your GPS system to take the right turns and don't miss them. Police does not want to stop falang as they cannot speak English. So as long as your insurance plate and lights are good, they will wave you through. Speed limits have a 10 km/h buffer before they trigger a reminder photo and a potential on the spot fine if it was a police speed camera you passed too fast. Pay the 400 or 500 Baht and you are good to go. Parking in Chiang Mai, take No Parking areas very serious. They clamp your car. You have to go to a very remote police station by taxi, pay your fine, back by taxi, then wait for the police TukTuk to come and remove the clamp. Your evening is spoiled, not by the 500 Baht fine, but by the time it takes. I'm not certain, if you can get LPG rental cars. If yes, go for them. LPG is less than 50% of petrol price. It adds up and as you see, Thailand is enormous in length from South to North, so you clock quite a lot of distance easily.

The "bribe" your talking about is a fine. It's a myth Thai Police take roadside bribes. They write you a ticket and issue an on the spot fine which sometimes can be paid roadside in cities, mostly in rural areas paid at the Government office

Yeh same experience Every infringement was a 200b fine with receipt given I got done for no drivers licence on me ( it was at home, apparently) - fine, settled, leave the receipt on the dashboard and if picked up again same day for same reason you don't pay a second fine, so I was told Much better than the BS we deal with in Australia, fines, cameras everywhere, lost demerit points, and have to pay online. Much easier living and driving in Thailand

Thanks for the view! I'm currently in Mexico writing this! I would have to say i have a real soft spot for Southeast Asia. However, I can't put either ahead of the rest. And there is still a lot more to see. Cebu was so much more than I was expecting, and I need to get back and do some island hopping, truly a tropical oasis. Thailand, I've been 7 times, and I keep liking it more and more! Some of the best awe-inspiring visuals in the towering limestone to the south, but it is the culture in thailand that keeps me coming back! Costa rica is right up there with both of them. I've been to CR, probably about 30 days. And of that time, maybe 2 days on the beaches. Everything inland, waterfalls, hot springs, cloud forests. It is also such an awesome place to road trip! I'll be back there in a couple of months again! I've been traveling for 16 years and making videos for 1. At this point, I'd say the 7 time repeat to thailand would be the "unofficial " top dog. One thing is for certain, once I started breaking free from the tourist tracks in these places and doing the solo road trips, that is when these places really start to leave you inspired!

@rh9583 unfortunately my Journey never took me to phi phi this round. Now I did do a Phang Nga bay tour, and I flew my drone there. It seems as thought each of the "popular islands" you need to get permission. I'll use james bond island as an example. When you park your boat there you can ask one of the Rangers about flying. I was good just flying out in the unnamed Islands and hired a boat specifically just to drive me around and fly. I learnt a lot about taking off and landing in a boat in a current as well haha!

The size disparity being only 1 L in difference looks massive! I would guess the Wandrd 6L is more equal in sizing to the PM 8....maybe it's the Canadian exchange rate! Easy decision for me, if it has PM's name on it, it's a pass for me.

Each barrel has welded inside a 20lbs propane tank. The propane tanks are pipe in and out of the barrel. So the water flows into the tank, is heated by fire, and back out to the pool. This is enough to heat a hot tub. To get my 19000 liter pool hot, I needed to have 3 of them set up together. The water flows through all three and is heated by each fire. Works awesome!
