Does anyone know if this is the RR bridge just north of the Cougar Smith Rd? Or the bridge near the Kelley Rd? The area is now referred to as the Schafer Grade. Looking for info on both bridges for a project. TIA!

What is fec 404 doing in Washington state? The blue locomotive is fec 404 as a kid growing up into adult hood in southeast Florida and being a railfan you could say that I grew up with that locomotive.

Gone! Did you know, seeing that bridge, the trees grew up along the side, and a man took a piss and fell 30 feet. Yow!! David Paul Buben..Lead Man, Dispatcher. Simpson railroad. Logger, Cowboy, Railroader. Thank you Joel. I really miss those boys. Men among men really. We did suffer, some. Just a job to us. That's gotta be Daddyo in the trailing engine. He could work that horn like a musical instrument.

16:11 Yikes ! You can really sense that tonnage, along with the curvature adding drag !!!... Is all this still in operation here in June 2022 ? This is about the most complete switching vid I've ever seen !....This'd be something to model; with the murky water, bridges and all..24:15 They goin' fer beans ? This is one great bitchin' switchin' display...Goin' over to the 'log train' vid....

The line closed in 2015. Wikipedia says that it was leased to a museum in 2019 for running as a tourist line, so maybe that's still going.

Did business drop off that much that caused it to shut down or did management, due to lack of maintenance close it. Any chance it could be restarted.

We used to farm near Reardan. Left home when this track was still ruled by Burlington Northern. Crossed the tracks at Hite every Sunday for years on our way to church when I was a youngster. They dumped alot of money into this branch in the early 1990's, had a few sizeable derailments over the next couple of years then after BNSF merger, pawned it off to WATCO. A really unique line with a history of survival. Not so profitable due to seasonal traffic but highly valued by local farmers and the state in keeping grain on the rails and not on highways. Glad I found this video.

This video testifies that, when once these machines were regarded less against the priority of keeping the industries moving, nowadays they are truly the stars of the show getting the recognition they long deserved. Regards, Samuel Farris.

anb740 0 seconds ago I learned on my first visit out there in 2003, that it’s impossible to legally chase/pace a train on the Washington side. I matched a westbound’s speed once at 67mph. Finally had to back off and let it go
