Can you send a link to solar panel and pump? I read that some are not really reliable

In the video I’m using the $31 dollar one on Amazon when you search by the keyword “solar air pump”. The brand is NFESOLAR. It’s been a year and still works great!

Maybe try to manually push out the eggs by using your fingers. I believe that's how they do it at salmon and trout farms to force the eggs out. Just a suggestion.

Do you think I can keep medaka out side? I live in India here summers are very hot ...it gets 40+°c.

Hi cera, thanks for this video. Can i know what is the separation box (phase 2) called? I don't think i've seen this type of breeding box before.
@Cera-xe5gt2 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching! You can search for aquarium acrylic isolation box. I bought it on Temu.

Thank you for this information. I purchased some Medaka from an online vendor in the US. I could not figure out what was wrong with them, they became skinny, weak and died. I thought I was doing something wrong, but it was exactly what you described. I lost half and they are not cheap fish either. Very sad. I see you can help save some of them but I probably will stay away from Medaka Rice Fish for awhile. I don't like bringing diseases into my fish room if I can avoid it.
@Cera-xe5gt2 ай бұрын
Hi Linda! I’m glad I can help out and sorry for your loss😢. But don’t worry too much as this is an illness very specifically to medaka and I’ve never had it spread to my other fish. And it mostly only happen to weak or imported medaka. I rarely get this issue from locally raised medaka or from medaka I raised from eggs. But yes it’s super stressful when you get this happen to you. It’s almost like cancer to medakas 😭

I heard you just squeeze her gently to let it out ... but I'm not sure.

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried to follow your suggestion today and was too scared to squeeze 😢. Gentle squeeze unfortunate did not help her release TT

I have had a few of these fish that have come in like this. I lost all my females from my Pearl Galaxy, luckily I hatched about 8 fry, and I just got some Ulysses and only 1 looked healthy. All the fish I have raised from eggs look great. It’s only the ones I receive from others.
@Cera-xe5gt2 ай бұрын
I get skinny illness from fry I raise myself as well but rarely, but yes mostly from fish that are imported.

I’ve been breeding platinum Medaka that I got from a guy on Reddit. He says he breeds them in massive ibc totes and I think you’re right that the genetics are just very bad with some of these fish especially in the United States. I worry it’s contagious too cause I’ve had whole batches of fry develop it.
@Cera-xe5gt3 ай бұрын
So base on my observation, it is contagious but not that contagious. Sick fish living with healthy fish generally won’t let the healthy fish get it. But I always quarantine the sick ones because both bacteria and parasites are contagious after all ;(.

Hi, just want to know if it is ok for the eggs to stain blue when methylene blue was used to soak the eggs? Thank you.
@exoticwater8 ай бұрын
Hi yes it’s okay, but better to change it to your pond or aquatic water in a small container with some floating plants once you’ve received them. I personally have sent eggs in the mail and don’t like the methalyne blue
@zm61868 ай бұрын
@@exoticwater Thank you.
@Cera-xe5gt3 ай бұрын
Hi! This is a long overdue reply but I actually rarely get my eggs stain blue. Whenever my eggs get blue it’s most likely because they were infertile :(. But that could also be caused by the methylene blue wasn’t diluted enough.
@zm61863 ай бұрын
Hi Thank you.. Yes, infertile ones stained deep blue... since then I have some where it's a bit blue when I didn't dilute methylene blue enough but when placed in more dilute solution, that blue stain disappears !

Do eggs in the mail have a good chance of arriving alive? I have had some good experience with dirt spawning killie eggs in the mail but wet eggs sealed with not heat sounds more fragile
@snekysneks7 ай бұрын
Ricefish are killifish. I got some ricefish eggs from Japan and none of them went bad.
@Cera-xe5gt3 ай бұрын
Yes! The eggs are very hardy so they do just fine during shipment. It’s usually the fertilization rate and the temperature that determines the hatching rate. Try not to order eggs if your temperature isn’t between 50-100F

Hi! Thank you for your comment and this is a long overdue reply but here it is: Originally I like to get the ones with batteries but now I realized just pumping during daytime is enough for my medaka tanks so any solar air pump will work!
