The flogging is really long. It was often done in public. People loved witnessing punishment with the Whip.

Unfortunately... It kind of rubs off on me. In an operatic aria, the singing and the music are like two intertwined helixes of one DNA. As soon as you switch one for the other, a bastard is created, let the songstress sing her best. Each opera is always and fundamentally performed in the language for which it was written, because they simply harmonize with each other. No world opera will allow itself to be discredited by translating arias into its own language. I don't speak Italian and I don't understand German. But I can't imagine listening to Verdi's operas in a language other than Italian. Like Wagner, it only works in German. Otherwise, the songs just don't work.

The flogging is very authentic. The actor being whipped is very believable. The music makes the scene that much more intense! Floggings were always extremely intense for the person enduring the punishment as well as those looking on.

Beautiful, I love this song and the beautiful aura that Jon had, and his smile is sincere and kind ,,, ;) If I were a minstrel, I?d sing you six love songs To tell all the world, of the love that we share If I were a merchant, I?d bring you six diamonds, With six blood red roses, for my love to wear But I am a simple man, a poor common farmer, So take these six ribbons, to tie back your hair Yellow and brown, blue as the sky, Red as my blood, blue as your eye If I were a nobleman, I'd bring you six carriages With six snow white horses, to take you anywhere If I were the emperor (yellow and brown), I'd build you six palaces (blue as the sky), With six hundred servants (red as my blood) For comforting fare (green as your eyes) But I am a simple man, a poor common farmer, So take these six ribbons, to tie back your hair If I were a minstrel, I?d sing you six love songs, To tell all the world, of the love that we share So be not afraid my love, you?re never alone love, While you wear my ribbons, tyin? back your hair Once I was a simple man, a poor common farmer, I gave you six ribbons, to tie back your hair Tooralee, tooralie, all I can share, Is only six ribbons, to tie back your hair Tooralee, tooralie, all I can share, I gave you six ribbons, to tie back your hair

Love this song. I met Jon in the music shop across the road from my office when he came to Tauranga, New Zealand, in the late 1970’s. All the office girls went to meet him, shake his hand and get excited to be so close to our singing and acting idol! Wonderful memory!❤️❤️RIP Jon
