Just a comment regarding the investment part. I was an early backer for PC1, and unlike ANY other crowdfunding project, we were considered as investors, so not only did I get a great game for the 40€ I gave, but they also sent me returns on the investment and in the end they ended up sending me back twice the amount I gave them initially. I never considered myself betrayed because they made a second one and I'll never be bitter about investing in PC1. Thanks to Ian Bell and his team I got 2 awesome racing sims, the best career mode available on PC and a great engine that lives on in AMS2

Finally more people are saying this. Ive been saying it to everyone since 4-5 years ago when i played it on my setup. I've sold my wheel now cause of less hours of playing games & i just game on keyboard and controller. Nevertheless this is timeless and im blessed i bought both 1st and 2nd before delisting.

Was? It still IS the best sim racing game we have! I play it everyday and can't play any other sim racing at all because of PC2's grandeur and unexcelled mechanics. I tried HARD to bring myself to enjoy ACC, but no. It is no PC2. As for PC3, it has nothing to do with this game. Anyways, let me repeat: PC2 is the still the absolute best sim racing game there is, including the graphics.

Eh I'd say there was still a lot of things wrong with this game. AMS2 is a much better example of why this game works a lot better than this release. AMS2 FFB when tweaked correctly feels more natural than PC2. The ai make more sense right off the bat.

AMS2, from where I sit doesn't compare to the driving action within PC2. With my gear in PC2 I can feel the tires on the track surface. I can feel the car drift a bit or break loose. In AMS2 it feels like I'm driving on a wet track on a sunny day half the time. People tell me that PC2 is Arcade compared to AMS2. I say Bullshit. I think it also depends on the gear your using and setting both your gear + the set up from the garage.AMS2 has improved but even one other thing I also noticed too... racing on Imola in PC2 or RaceRoom or iracing, the track is long and fast. In AMS2 "Imola" the straights are shorter and turn radius's are smaller or tighter. Totally weird feeling. It's like two different tracks.

After PC2 became discontinued , I was newer and didn't know anything about PC2. So I searched for a Steam Key and found a deluxe version and a Eastern add on as well. So I loaded it into my Steam account and viola , it works perfect. I'm running this in 4K, Just recently I started to observe the FFB setting. I'm running a Fanatec GT-DD pro with a CS 2.5 RIM with Podium paddles. For pedals I'm running a full set of VRS Now the FFB felt not so good when I'd try to turn it up a bit within game settings. After further review within the game's settings I discovered three modes of operation being RAW , Custom, and Immersive. Of the three "Immersive" with all the games settings to Max changed everything! With all my Fanatec's GT-DD base unit settings maxed out the game feels so smooth and I can actually feel the tires rolling along the pavement. I can feel everything sliding if or when I break loose when hitting the throttle. In Custom mode when I'd try to turn it up it felt mike it could damage my wheel base as it felt most unpleasant. I've been so impressed with these VRS pedals too that I am building a VRS wheel base to jump from 8NM to 20NM. I couldn't believe the difference. In Custom mode I thought it was maybe because the sim is older and left behind, but in Immersive mode, my gear rides FFB better than any sim I've driven. I was having trouble setting up one of the F1 rides as I kept breaking loose and the car was fighting me! But after I set my gear up in Immersive mode then the car's settings in the garage were better dealt with and made sense. I can't believe how it's handling now. It's sad that some Mod squad hasn't jumped into PC2 and worked with it like AC. Too bad licensing laws discontinued this sim. Now days large companies want to sell to a larger market as opposed to a sim market so we get sim-cade. I still found some live online racing at the Ring "Nurburgring" a few weeks ago.

I’ve done that route several times on a smaller bike. It gets even more difficult further down the trail where you turned around. There are a couple spots that cross New River where past floods have completely filled the crossing with giant boulders. Picking a line through those boulders is difficult. It wasn’t that fun on a small bike. I can’t imagine getting through the boulder crossings with that big GS. I live in Anthem with a 300L and a Rally Raid CB500X. Maybe sometime we can go for a ride. Still one of my main go to VR games and I love the ffb on the Fanatec wheel. Sad to have no one in the lobbies anymore and yes, I believe people are missing a great game that deserves a revisit.

Unlike vanilla AC, this sim always felt like you had actual rubber tires under the car thanks to the SETA tire model. CSP fixed this for AC but IMO PC2 was better off the shelf, and probably the most complete racing sim ever made.

Wow, $4k for that bike you paid ALL the money - just saying. She's a beauty, but that's a lot for a Gen 2? I have a '23 KLR and you bought a bike that is a Swiss army knife - you're asking for (esp in that price range) a lot of capability in one package. IMO the KLR does them all well enough. It's not a sport tourer and it's not an MX bike, it's a mash-up and there's gonna be some tradeoffs. Unless and until you're ready to step up to an Africa Twin, Tiger, BMW, Harley PanAm, etc. - your choices are going to be limited and there's gonna be some tradeoffs, as you've noted. Be safe!

Ok my 2 pence worth... I don't trust Ian Bell.. At all... Here's why... I know several people who invested in PCars 1 pre launch (they invested £500 with a "Guarantee" of a return of investment and a profit) they got PCars and all DLC's and £50... That's it. They spent 3 YEARS testing and bug hunting to make the game what it became and got shafted in the long run. As for PCars 2? It had a major bug which caused random spins with no obvious reason, they never even bothered to look into this let alone fix it. PCars 2 cannot be bought on Steam anymore as their licensing agreements expired and it was removed from the store in September 2022. More reasons I don't trust Ian Bell. PCars had a fundamental flaw which cause it to switch between 2 different tyre models, leading to inexplicable random spins, you might be fine for 5-6 laps then doing the exact same as you'd done previously? NOPE you're in the kitty litter. SMS never even LOOKED for a cause let alone fixed it. Bell sold SMS to Codemasters in 2019/2020 for £150 million+. In the run up to PC3 we were told by Ian Bell "PC3 will be the best sim ever" later after masses of people complained about the drift style handling of the pre-release videos, "PC3 will be all the sim you'll want", no tyre wear, no fuel usage, no pit access and pure arcade handling and woeful gfx. 6 months after PC3 BOMBED all support abandoned. Coupled with Grid 2019's failure, Grid Legends expected failure, Fast and Furious Crossroads completely bombing along with Dirt 5 getting panned Codemasters put themselves up for sale. EA paid $1.2 BILLION for them in early 2021 Ian Bell then says "PC4 will be the best sim ever!". EA fired Bell Oct 2021. Bell the says things like "if PC4 is great it was all me, if not? I left 6 months ago..." As soon as Bell's non compete clause ends he paoches most of the SMS devs, net result? SMS closed by EA PC4 abandoned, Codies CEO and CFO fired by EA. EA approaches Apple, Amazon, Comcast-NBCUniversal and Disney, looking to sell out or merge, all discussions fell apart by May/June 2022.. They were basically told "GET TAE F**K!" Now lets look at the player stats for a few titles along with PC... PCars 1 79.14%+, peak of 10,688, retained between 1200-2000 players till PC2 launched. PCars 2 80.99%+, peak of 6,775, still had 1000+ players till 2022, 255 max last 24 hours. Pcars 3 54.01%+, peak of 1,218, fell below 500 in less than a month 47 peak last 24 hours. AMS 1 90.22%+, peak of 497 2 YEARS after a silent launch, 69 last 24 hours. AMS 2 92.22%+, peak of 1,150 at launch, max of 2,559 in 2023, 708 last 24 hours. ACC 92.30%+, peak of 4,098 at launch, max of 12,376 in 2024, 4,242 last 24 hours. AC 1 92.46%+, peak of 2,720 at launch, max of 19,661 in 2024, 13,195 last 24 hours. Now lets have a look at Reiza, when they began work on AMS2 and got kernal level rights to the madness engine (allowing them to adapt or change the game engine code) they had just 25 staff and a revenue of just $400,000. Reiza don't even have an office, they all work from homes accross the globe, in fact their "modern F1 ground effect" cars (Formula Ultimate Gen 2) were developed by guy based in Ukraine who got the model finished despite being in a warzone! Reiza then paid for this Dev and his Family to get to safety in Brazil, along with a colleague based in Russia when the invasion kicked off! Unlike SMS they searched the engines code and found the flaw causing the tyre problem and fixed it. They also hired 2 players (with engineering degrees) who also found and fixed an issue with the differentials sticking, they changed the viscosity of the differential oil and solved the problem, one of them also reworked every default car setup in just 2 months providing more stable car handling out of the box. We now have V1.6 on the horizon and has been in Beta testing by players since end of April early May (myself included). This update alone is effectively 2 YEARS worth of work but completed in just under 9 months! They aint joking either. Tyre hysteresis update, major physics update, new cars, new tracks, MASSIVE AI recalibration so they actually fight for positions without playing bumper cars, new licensing agreements such as IMSA and 2 new manufacturers with a further 5 in negotiation for the future. Hmmm.. Yet he's hired Reiza as consultants for Project Motorsports (Formerly GTR Revival) that he's working on with all the devs poached from SMS???? In short AMS2 is what Project Cars 2 COULD have been and what Project cars SHOULD have been, yet Bell and Codemashers ended up ruining several franchises and 2 companies due to intransigence and failing to listen to their fans... Seriously give AMS2 a try, it's night and day better than PC2, they even have over 40 YEARS worth of weather data from the majority of the tracks in the game (those that have weather records that long), you wanna try emulate Jensen Buttons last to 1st at Canada in 2011? Or Senna's Lap of the Gods at the European GP in 1993 at Donnington? Set the date, location, the car and select real weather and go for it! AMS2 is roundly touted as having the best VR support out there too. Give it a 90 minute test, set a timer on your phone, select a mid leve car (2024 stock cars have the V1.6 tyres and physics already) pick a decent track (e.g. Goiania) add some AI at say 90-100 skill and max agression, set practice for 90 minutes an go. Send some time setting up the car and wheel you use. If the timer goes off and you hate it refund it. If you're grinning like a fool and dying for more then save the pennies and wait for a sale to get the all inclusive update bundle in the autumn sales. you'll get ALL content released so far and potentially save 58% (last sale it was £61.84 compared to £145.54), not too bad getting ALL content so far for just £97.83...

Good video! I agree with a lot of your points. No game has ever captured the atmosphere of being at a race track like PC 1&2. The selection of lesser used race cars and tracks was awesome, and made it stand out from titles like Forza Motorsport. I even bought the full edition of PC2 on Xbox with all of the DLC's because i believed it would be a top tier game. But when i hit the track however, all of this just faded as i couldn't understand the physics model. I like competitive racing, thus being on the limit of what a car can do. Project Cars however doesn't simulate this well enough for me to understand. I was constantly spinning and flipping the car whenever i tried to push to a certain limit. If Project Cars had the Assetto Corsa physics engine, it would've been the best sim racing title out there. With weather, easy to use ui and a good selection of cars and tracks. Project Cars could've been like a very heavily modded Assetto straight out of the box. What a shame.

I love it and I still play it all the time with friends. So so fun!!!

Project Cars 2 is beautiful and lovable, and like you said, at least to me, it has it all - weather changes, day and night (real or accelerate), you can even do long races and have the AI take over for you for a while. So many kinds of cars, kinds of tracks. And lets not forget Long Beach - enough said. I got in "late" in 2018, so I never had the experience of being let down with the first one. But I'm always amazed that the big "streamers" always dump on 2.

Project CARS 2 was really special, it had things a lot of sims still don't have (the stuff you mentioned with weather, the choice of tracks, cars etc.) and it was also drivable with a controller if you can't afford a wheel. It's a shame. I would still do some racing, championships and in general produce content including even making car skins, but without a community for the game it's not really worth it anymore. The 3rd installment of the series ultimately killed it and yeah, you cannot buy pCARS 2 in 2024. Well, at least we can still turn it on whenever we want.

PC1 and PC2 were both good, PC2 being the better game....I hear AC EVO will have dynamic weather... advertising it like its a hard thing thats never been done...

the 'simulator' you say was a 'great racing game' (and i use the term simulator extremely loosely) was not a sim by ANY STRETCH. it had almost NO VEHICLE DYNAMICS that correlate to reality in any way. the suspension tuning did almost nothing to the 'handling' and 'feel' of the vehicle in game rather only adjusted feel of forcefeedback in the wheel. it was a joke. the suspension tuning SHOULD HAVE adjusted the in game VEHICLE DYNAMICS when in truth was just a placebo to making the wheel feel different. SHOULD HAVE made the roll and heave visual cues different. BUT since you say 'great racing game' none of what i said matters to you. like the arcade game of pole position. as long as you can race you don't care.

I bought this, got 25 mins of trying to play it but it wouldn't run on my system, apparently you need more than an 8gb graphics card

I got solid pc recently and partially it was for forza horizon 5 which is great lets be honest here, probably the best arcade racer there is. I tried this and was shocked at how ass it is. I thought it would’ve had the cockpit view that gran turismo has that makes it look almost life like.

As a controller player I have to say I disagree with you saying the brakes feel better, for me the braking is the worst I've ever seen and I've been playing since FM4. I feel like this new engine that they keep touting is behind a lot of the issues in this game.

just get a little stronger, lower the bike just a little. You can get adjustable lowering links, so you don't have to lower it too much and then drop the forks 1/4 to maybe an inch and that will give more control in the bush. I have the gen 3 and I really like it b/c it's better on the highway than the gen 2

After PC1/PC2 "killed" by EA , I was lucky to buy Steam keys for both games. I've played AC, ACC, Forza Motorsport, AMS2, and WRC, but PC1/PC2 are truly interesting and are the two racing games I've spent the most time on. However, the unfortunate end and the rocky development process of Project CARS make me doubt whether Ian Bell can genuinely dedicate himself to the players with the upcoming GTRevival, haha.
