While i love both versions, Jerry West version gives me the chills. I had it played at my fathers funeral a few months ago and most had never heard it (they hadn't listened to much beach music). However, after the funeral many wanted to know who it was so they could look it up. A couple weeks later, another told me they listen to it every day now. BOZ ended New Years Eve party with it last month too! But not the same without Jerry on vocals.

Don't know all the words, but online everywhere they're totally wrong. One part: I like to see those big hips when you walk through that gate another part: Don't you worry about your weight, I like a lot of meat with my bread

Sad....so few comments...I remember the first time I heard Mr. Mcphatter as a kid....many years ago.....It was A lovers Question......heard it on the way to work on the "easy listening" station....Never in my 60 some odd years have I ever tired of listening to him....every time takes me back to that early spring morning with the windows down....one Hand on the steering wheel.....out on the open road....with this playing on the radio.....what more can I say....

Sweet memories of this fantastic song ! I had a wonderful man in my life and we both loved each other thru the love of our music together we shared for a few years. I miss him so much. If I could turn back the hands of time!!! Now my health has deteriorated as a result of grieving for this senseless loss of a friend, companion, partner, lover is so sad! Just maybe we may meet again!
