Hi Theo. May I ask did you get a permit to fly this drone or did you just risk it? Officially they say only commercial flights are permitted, but I'm hoping in Musandam they were very relaxed. I'm going there on holiday and I really want to fly my drone....

No I did not have permission but I did only fly when I was right out on the water or in the desert so as not to be disturbing anyone (or risking getting in trouble with authorities). We spent the night on the boat and it was one of the best experiences of my life - perfect tranquility. I highly recommend and hope you have a lovely holiday!

Thomas Aarholt A pleasure! Footage isn't as good as I would like but with only a 50m range it meant I was flying this while sprinting along the bank, trying not to get hit by bikes, pulling up my trousers which kept falling down and desperate not to crash my drone! Glad you like it anyway :)

Theo Carter Which quad are you using? It looked surprisingly small when I saw it. I've got a bigger one (DIY) but it's not stable enough to fly reliably over people yet. How do you handle the short battery time? Do you just replace it?

I am using a Parrot Bebop drone here which is a great drone but pretty tiny as you say - weighs only 300g! Battery-wise I have two batteries which give me ~20 minutes flight time and I just have to try and use them wisely! So cool that you have built your own though - what is it? I'm planning on building a new one this summer although I am being torn by the pros and cons of a racing drone vs a better camera platform!
