I know this gen Park Avenue requires A LOT of repairs and extreme maintenance. But I won't part with them. The Ultra is worth the aggravation. Plus, you can transplant the LS9 from the Impala SS and not have to fret over the transmission as the Impala unit has a much larger torque capacity rating

I had to go back to looking at one of the first cars I owned as a 20 yr old. I was able to save and buy 89 Trans Am GTA but I still love that body style. Theirs a WS6 with kooks long tube headers and a Magnaflow cat back , 60k original miles Car looks to be in beautiful shape, T-roofs, One owner. I’ve got to go check it out. Sounds killer ! I miss these cars

So I'm thinking about getting one of these Firebirds. I was thinking an automatic, T-Top, 3.8-liter V6. Is that a good choice? I am thinking about using them as a daily driver, I live in the South so this shouldn't matter as much.

I drive 2004 lesabre 3.8L non super charger . but for those who don't know, the rear seat does NOT fold so cant get larger items in there. And the mpg is pretty bad 18 city 27 highway. Also they are gaining in value , long gone are days able get these dirt cheap if need reliable quick inexpensive transportation. But I think are still worth a buy.

How did you torque the strut top nut ? My shaft keeps spinning. I can put a Allen wrench in the center of the shaft and then use a box end wrench to tighten it by hand but then I cannot torque it to spec. Also I am not sure if I have the nut on all the way, there is still some room for the spring to move up and down after trying to tighten it by hand. I have bilstein shocks with umi lowering springs 1.25”. Is it normal to have that much play after torquing it ?
@CaptainThirdGen
@CaptainThirdGen Ай бұрын
@@bigd33103 if the spring can move, its too loose. I used a spring compressor, then held the shaft with a small wrench, whilst tightening the nut with a large wrench. its tricky to do because the top mount gets in the way. I used my buddy to help when I did mine. 1 of us held the shaft while the other turned the nut. It takes a while since you can only turn it ever so slightly with the wrench at an angle. when i was done, i had about 5 or 6 threads showing above the nut. spring does not move
