One must say that this overdrive was created for the YJM pickups

Great and cool review! I own this pedal, now I need this head 😊 I use it in front of my Mark V. Would love to hear a comparison, same pedal, Marshall head vs JP2C! By the way, I’ve watched your video of the Malmsteen custom shop vs US strat many times, such a great review and really loved those clean tones! And I’m a huge fan too of « Breaking all illusions » solo! Cheers from France!

If you like the neck a lot, try the Holdsworth "Fatboy". I think you'd like it much more. Either of the Holdsworth models with a headstock would probably suit your tastes much more than the headless model. I bought a Carvin HF2S before they became Kiesel. It has different pickups plus a piezo in the Graphtech bridge. With 3 outputs it's very versatile. One each for the piezo out, the pair of split-able humbuckers and a midi out for use with a synth. Also, the piezo has active parametric eq onboard. Cheers!

Just discovering this review right now. I own the standard US YJM strat, not the CS. And I assembled another myself from parts bought at Stratospherparts, genuine Fender YJM neck and body. I wired the pickguard how I wanted, with the DiMarzio pickups (which I prefer over the Fury’s), 5-way switch. Not mentioned in the video is the volume pot: Seymour Duncan YJM on the CS, standard for the US range. The SD rolls way smoother. After having assembled many partcasters, trying different necks, it is very clear that with all parts being strictly equal, the neck has a massive impact on the tone. I had tried one from Warmoth which was extremely dark sounding. I think that the type trussrod affects the tone (different vibrations?). So I am not surprised by the conclusions of your review. Great job!

I had so many problems with Ibanez models over the past years through all price ranges... I will never ever touch an Ibanez guitar again despite the ones I already own. Also is golden hardware so problematic, especially the tremolo. The golden color wears off so quickly, no matter how expensive the guitar is.

I have several guitars with Seymour Duncans in them - Jackson U.S.A., Hamer Standard, two custom built guitars and while I like them, I've always liked the Gibson Burstbuckers better. In fact, I passed up a Gibson Les Paul that someone replaced the Burstbuckers with Seymour Duncans.

Nice guitar, that high E thing is overrated, you get used to it and believe it or not I'd miss it! I don't know if that's a case of drinking my own cool aid, but I love my YJM it's flawless other than the thick body finish. It's hard to justify the CS model price, I did watch your first video and you were right the first time. I'd miss the truss rod adjustment at the head stock. But I'm sure the CS has awesome wood, and that matters. Thankfully I have my Lentz Croydon Carvetop that slays everything else, literally, every time now.

Hi Marco-great video as always. Curious if you’ve had issues with the high E string slipping off the fretboard? Fenders seem to be hit/miss with that problem so thought I’d ask before spending that kind of coin.

I just bought a 2024 rosewood fretboard Yngwie USA Stratocaster. I had ABSOLUTELY no QC issues with it at all. It is the best Strat I have ever had. I have had 5 USA strats in my lifetime dating all the way back to 1987 when I bought my first (American Standard) as a teenager. It by far is the best quality instrument I have had from Fender.

Necks often shift in shipping. You just need to loosen the bolts on the neck slightly and shift it back, then tighten it up. That one in the Sweetwater, the US model, that's likely all it needs. My Wolfgang Stealth arrived to me slightly shifted, as did an American Pro II Strat, but both were perfect with 1 mins effort. Not to suggest the Custom Shop isn't better - my AM Pro II wasn't as nice as the Custom Shop closet classic I sold (and regretted).
@THEVATICANTS12 күн бұрын
It's more than just the shift. They use vintage neck with modern trem. That's the reason why on all of them the high E is always an issue.

I've wanted to hear those YJM pickups clean. Most reviewers go the the overdriven shred mode because Yngwie. A little Eric Johnson clean chording. The pickups sound very stratty in a good way in all the positions.

It's amazing malmsteen never experimented with radius and pickup configurations since day one
@andyhayes782814 күн бұрын
Actually, Yngwie's strats had the original 7 1/4 fretboard radius from the time he started using strats (mid to late '70's) up well into the '80's. His signature models have a 9 1/2 fingerboard radius, and seems to be what he currently prefers. His preference in pickups has changed as well......imo, the earlier the better, 'cause up until sometime in '84, Yngwie used Dimarzio FS1 pickups, which sound WAY better than the HS3 or the Duncan Fury pickups. The FS1'S aren't noiseless though. David Gilmour had an FS1 in the bridge of his strat when the 'Wall' was recorded.
@brutus632814 күн бұрын
He also plays with crazy high action!!! So, no worry about fretting out when bending which is the main issue with a 7.25" radius guitar!
@Bigboybooya66614 күн бұрын
@andyhayes7828 he hasn't changed pickup configuration though. I'm talking hsh or hss. And going from 7 1/4 to 9.5 isn't a big jump. Most shredders prefer a flatter radius so I'm just surprised he never went that route
@andyhayes782814 күн бұрын
@@Bigboybooya666 He probably got to the 9 1/2 after a few refrets. Scalloped boards leave near nothing when planeing the board on a refret. His fretboard radius transition was probably gradual, though still quite a difference as compared.

My guess is that Fender wanted to stay as true as possible to Yngwie's originals. Edit: I think Yngwie's originals had the slightly unstable 3 bolt neck plate. Maybe for playability's sake, this one has the standard 4 bolt plate.
