This was my mother's favourite. Just loved to see the songsters clapping. The pianists did a brilliant job. Wish I could still play the tambourine.

Thank you for the media. Are you able to adjust your video comments? The recording is not the ISB. The recording is from the Yorkshire Building Society Band (David King) ‘Essays for Brass’ CD, Volume One.

While we are on the war path. My friend Richard spent 8 years in the S.A. boys home in Bayswater, Victoria. He received regular beatings from the officers including the matron. But there is worse: 2 of the officers selected little boys from the dormitories after lights out and took them into their bedrooms. I shall say no more.

Concerns regarding the distribution of funds raised by the SA at corps level are absolutely correct. I grew up in a Salvation Army home: my father was bandmaster of a well-known Corps. I can confirm that ALL proceeds of the carol collections by the band went into the band fund - and the only people I ever knew who did any social work were the Commanding Officers and the Welfare Officers. Even my father refused to sell the War Cry in pubs! I have felt for years that this should be exposed

I am part of a Salvation Army Band and have been for almost thirty years. This is no longer the case. The money gets pumped into the corps as a whole to help the community as a whole. The rules of how the money is used have changed.

I would love for you to prove me wrong and write here an account of your local Corps-how much comes in from public donations, and how much is actually used in 'social work' compared to your worship centres running costs. It is, in my opinion, a scandal that has gone on for far too long and it is time for someone to expose the 'good ol sally anne' as the religious sect that misuses peoples trust and donations.

I also want to add, after much thought, you seem to be a sincere salvationist - who believes the best about the S.A. and on that I have no desire to negatively impact upon you. However, it is important you understand where the money raised actually goes, rather than just trusting the SA. I promise you, you will be shocked and maybe you could do something that will make a change of policy.Speak to your Officer or C.T. You are in for a surprise, believe me.

The donations given to your homophobic sect should in fact mean that the homeless should get a hell of a lot more than a bowl of soup on a Friday night. I also need to add - if anyone out there is thinking of leaving a legacy to the SA - if you fail to specify which area,type of work you want it used in SA wise, it means 100% of it goes to their central fund in London IHQ. It is time this sect was exposed for what they are. Do your homework! Go check it out!
@Steampunksaly
@Steampunksaly 13 жыл бұрын
When was the last time you checked out your Corps Books, ask your Officer for a copy of the weekly cash statement sent to DHQ - you will see I am not wrong at all, public money given in donations is used by the local Corps to cover admin,war cry publication,officers salary and travel expenses,corps and quarters repairs,and Corps heating and lighting costs - go on, check it out! The money raised by the band stays with the band - ask your bandmaster where all the instruments came from.
@Steampunksaly
@Steampunksaly 13 жыл бұрын
Do people realise that the collection taken at Christmas by the Salvation Army goes to the band? Also - never buy a War cry - 10% goes to their divisional headquarters for admin, 30% to pay for the printing of the paper and 60% to pay for the running costs (heating and lighting and ministers salary) of their local Corps (church building). Salvationist's themselves finacially give very very little and most members do no social work as folk think, but spend their time in music.
