I'm along for the series! My indoor 50ft 22lr league started in October, I plan to incorporate your drills. I'm still struggling to get a stable stance, I tend to lean or loose balance, trying diffent shoes, foot placement, weight, knees bent or locked etc. I better review the resources on the internet, might enlist more experienced shooter(s) for real time advice (everyone very friendly,helpful)

Really like the dual camera view. Amazed how fast you did the string! So lucky to have a 50 yard line to yourself and can make it cold anytime you want. My range can technically do 50 yards, but only if no one else is there - the 25 yard line takes priority if there are other shooters. Love the holes in the awning.

This certainly pairs well with your video of shooting at a blank piece of paper to see where groups are. I've heard of doing something similar for red dot acquiring practice, without the pen but pressing barrel into a door on draw,presentation and that the red dot should be easily visible without 'fishing around to find it' if you have consistent natural POA.

@redacted5035 the range is huge and the tower is in the center of the range. So by the time the further shooters away from the tower hear the command, there is a delay. Very common on this range. Range officials dock points from the shooter on late shots

I tried Bullseye about '75 or '76 while stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, WA in the Navy. As a cash-strapped E3, my .22 ended up being a used Ruger Mk I 678 with a factory Ruger muzzle brake that I saved up and added a set of Fitz Accu-riser grips to. I still have it, but I'm 69 now and my hands shake too bad for any kind of offhand precision.

Please tell me what the big concern is with getting a shot off within a few milliseconds of the buzzer? With rapid fire there’s 10 seconds to shoot five shots that should be plenty of time even with a second or two delay on the front end. I’m new, so I’m legitimately asking what I’m missing here.

The idea of cracking off the first round as the target faces is to allow as much time as possible to make each shot and possibly a cushion for recovery at the end if there is a hiccup along the way. If you are slow to start, you have no time to catch up if you need it. There's also peace of mind if you know that you don't have to rush the last shot.
@michaelmiller4308
@michaelmiller4308 7 ай бұрын
@@J.Pardie hey, I appreciate the explanation and the logic. Just last week I had a misfire in timed and had to rush a little once I dealt with the issue (I dumped the round and kept shooting- no alibi). So I can see the point now.

You need shooting glasses with a diopter, Varga or Knobloch type. It makes aiming a lot easier, as both target and sigths will look sharp, focused, something impossible with the naked eye. Any top European 22lr pistol is a much better overall pistol for bullseye than the Ruger, as they have lower sigths height, plus adjustable triggers and ergonomic grips, that help much to avoid mistakes. It’s much better to buy one of these second hand than a new cheap pistol.

I started shooting .22 bullseye matches 5 years ago at local ranges. All were indoor but now I'm shooting outdoor and it's very different with my Ultradot on a High Standard Victor. Indoor you can check your target with a push of a button. Outdoor I need a scope. I've got my dad's old Pachmayr gun box with a 20x scope to see the targets but I can't fit my pistols with a red dot in it. I never had that problem with iron sights but 69 year old eyes need a red dot these days. What box are you using? Looks like you can fit your scoped guns in it well.
