what’s the difference between specx and standard mgw?
@akgearhead2 күн бұрын
There’s a standard shifter/standard handle, standard/low profile, X-spec/standard, and X-spec/low profile. All just has to do with how short of a throw you want. Standard/standard is the longest throw, xspec/low profile is the shortest. If you go to MGW’s website, they line out all the specs in detail.

Hello and thank you for your. I am new at this so I need advice. I just purchased nilight. LED strips for the inside of my bed of my 2015 Ford F250 how do I connect the red lead with the in-line fuse? Where does that go?
@akgearheadАй бұрын
Your power wire for the light strips will just need to be connected to one of the wires from the upfitter switches. You can either connect it in the engine bay, and then splice the pass through wire to the switch, or run it into the cab and go directly to the wire from the switch. You do not need whatever fuse your light kit came with, as the upfitter switches are already a fused power source. If you watch my video on installing the light bar on my truck, it explains this in more detail. I did the MGW on my 2016 Roush Mustang. I am not in the mood to do it again on my 2017 GT350, which I think shifts just fine. I did get the Billetworkz weighted shifter ball and reverse lockout. The short throw is not what I thought it would be. I always thought i had to wrestle it. But the MGW is well made!
@akgearheadАй бұрын
I wouldn’t worry about doing it on a GT350 unless you were absolutely bored. You have a totally different transmission and shifter mounting in that, than you do in a GT.

@akgearheadАй бұрын
Did you hook up the little black box thing? So long as it is hooked up, and everything is plugged in, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be working unless the unit is faulty. Are both signals not functioning, or just on one unit?
@lumpyzx26452 ай бұрын
Just remember, I can actually see through snow, fog, rain, etc as well as see the wet highway with my halogens. With 6500k leds the wet road just becomes black and the others have a ton of refraction and blind you. Also I can turn off my auxiliary halogens and still see what I'm looking at. Now on the other hand if you put some yellow or amber tint over that light bar, that might be a different story. You'd be able to see well with all the things I mentioned. But, dirty slush on the road will still freeze to your light bar and greatly reduce the effectiveness. And my halogens shine a further distance. On the down side with the halogens, they use a lot more amperage. At least I have a 150 amp alternator. Side note, if you're not using a wiring harness with a fuse and a relay, you really should be. The Eyourlife harness on amazon is pretty good, you'll probably have to extend some wires but that's easy.
@akgearhead2 ай бұрын
@@lumpyzx2645 I have a video of the entire install. I ran 4 light force lights on a previous truck for years before light bars took off, and there’s zero chance I would ever go back. The light output of halogens is horrible, and the amperage draw is as well. I’ve lived in Alaska for nearly 30 years, so I have a good grasp on what works in various inclement weather

Great job man! I'm amazed that you got that replacement seat cover on that tight. I have the same ski in the same year and I'm working on it now. What did you do to the front plastic hatch cover to get it that shiny again?
@akgearhead3 ай бұрын
For the seat cover, just make sure to keep everything pulled tight and really work all the wrinkles out toward the edges and then staple it tight. You could also use a heat gun to make it easier to form and work with. I did not use a heat gun when I did mine though, so I don’t think it’s 100% necessary. For the plastic hatch cover, I just took a cutting compound, buffed it with that, then polished it, and finally waxed it. It looks better on the video than it does in person I will say that 😂
@petehx994 ай бұрын
Did you use spray adhesive when putting on the seat covers?
@akgearhead4 ай бұрын
No. You definitely could, and it would probably make things easier. I personally try to avoid it so that in the event it gets changed again, it doesn’t rip chunks out of the foam

I know the yamaha/honda outboard jets I delt with had a liner/impeller combo. For those we had top/bottom shims to reshim/ restack as the impeller wore into the liner. Is it the same with this style? I saw a thick bottom washer, which might be the shim. Awesom video. Keep them coming!
@akgearhead5 ай бұрын
No shims on these ones. The large washer just sandwiches that destroyed pancake bearing against the pump housing. Probably a little different setup than an outboard jet. Can’t say I’ve ever worked on one of those.

It absolutely is, and I think it gets a bad rap just from people that don’t know how to properly shift. Only time I had issues was during high RPM drag racing. I would get terrible lockout usually going into third, and the MGW has completely gotten rid of that issue.

@akgearhead6 ай бұрын
Haven’t dug into it extensively yet. That’s the plan for today. I’ll probably swap the starter over from the known good motor. The shafts both have a ton of grass and debris wrapped up in them, so hopefully it’s just jammed up. I had that happen on my Polaris Jetski. Hoping it’s a simple fix and not internal engine failure, but it is what it is.
