Disagree that Auckland should have another team. Maybe a difference is a team outside of Auckland. I beat you NRL are loving the fact that there a now 2 competing bids in Christchurch as it could show there’s plenty of money for the NRL to make. I remember the barter card cup, that the shiners and cardinals and the Bulls in the lion red cup did alright, plus Christchurch is getting a new stadium.

The fact that the "world" governing body for RL is essentially toothless and gets dictated to by a domestic club competition tells you all you need to know about "international" rugby league. Not that theres anything wrong with that. Its the nrl, state of origin and super league that attracts the viewers and brings in the money so logically thats what gets prioritized. Rugby league will never be as popular globally compared to union because international tests will always be considered the pinnacle of the sport in union and its biggest draw and money earner hence countries will always place more emphasis on their national teams compared to their club competitions (France being the exception). Hell Super Rugby has always been considered a glorified trial for the All Blacks, Wallabies, Springboks, Brave Blossoms, Los Pumas, Flying Fijians, Manu Samoa, Ikale Tahi etc

As all the comments on different forums suggest, the backline needs work. No ifs and buts. There is a lack of smoothness there indicating a lack of speed in thought and deed. All thats keeping them there is experience and their defence. It just seems that New Zealand has not produced any outstanding flyhalfs or midfielders in quite a while. Why should that be? Scrumhalf looks good. Dylan pledger looked the goods at 9 in the under 20s this year. No issue there. And a lack of genuine pace on the wings.

".......are we going to play a curtain raiser..." Well, why not? In June 2024, England and France played a curtain raiser to a Pom Super Loig match in Toulouse.

no matter what anyone says.. truth is the international rugby league scene is just in it's prime.. in 5 years time..if the nrl don't stuff this up! your gonna see not just tonga and samoa.. but you will see the rise of Australia and the English fans.. nothing anyone can say can stop the growth of Rugby league and i mean in the pacific

Unfortunately RL it’s still a long long way behind in Fiji despite the Fiji Bati doing well in recent years.
@ilove100timesКүн бұрын
@@nabvelo4926 not really.. they just not a good team, nor like ppng have enough heritage players to call on.. and lets not forget, the tonga and samoan players are actually from aust or nz..

@@nabvelo4926 plus fijians are melanesian like ppng they don't have the phyicsal build to play the game.. this why they got a lot of white boys playing in the forwards...
@nabvelo4926Күн бұрын
@@ilove100times To be honest it’s nothing to with being Melanesian, Fijians like any Pacific Island rugby playing nation are built to play either RL or RU. RL is seriously played only at club level & to an extent at school level in Fiji where’s RU is played from School, Club & Provincial level. The biggest school RU competition called Deans Trophy Competition is even more popular & outweighs than any show that unfortunately the FNRL puts together. RU is just more ingrained in Fijians DNA. Now that doesn’t mean that the Fiji Bati gets no love at all, oh no trust me, the same Fijians in the Isles or wherever they are on this earth will move heaven and Earth to show support & love whether you’re Fiji born or of Fijian Heritage, if you’re willing & proud enough to carry your Ancestors memories on your back while donning the Fiji Bati Jersey, that is 100% good enough.
@nabvelo4926Күн бұрын
@@ilove100times Excluding PNG, Fiji being bigger than Tonga or Samoa, didn’t necessarily relied on Aus or NZ in terms of immigration to greener pastures in years go by (1950’s) Fiji is big enough to be self sufficient so to speak hence the high numbers of Tongan or Samoan RL & even RU players that were born in Aus or NZ due to migrations in the 50’s. Now in modern times things are changing but had we had the same opportunities back in the 50’s, who knows.

It’s really not difficult I mean the issue is the Samoan & Tongan boys want to play Origin aswell. That’s the key issue & NZ are tier 1 that is what they have to sort out because the tier system is broken. But if you run it at the same time with State of Origin all the Samoan & Tongan players need to be on board and commit to representing their country and giving up their right to play Origin so they’re at full strength. And it becomes a true trial for the Australian jersey. Otherwise they got to look to open up eligibility for kiwis & English players that tick the boxes of growing up in Australia to play for NSW or QLD. But I just think have Samoa vs Tonga week1, NZ vs Samoa week2 then NZ vs Tonga week3 something along those lines like what the Pacific cup will be end of 2025. Makes the most sense

Reiko Ioane is not the centre that most hype on about. Need big change there. Te'lea and Reece need to learn not to run flat alongside the ball carrier as their position determines whether they receive a forward pass or not. The ball needs to get out the back more quickly with supporting players and start using the grubber kick to turn the opposition around to chase backwards. Keep Roigard as the starting halfback and possibly finish the game.
@garrytito2068Күн бұрын
Yep annoys me that wingers don't cut under the ball carrier. Like I see done successfully in 7s.

On field game play is below standard, 10, 12, 13 are the problem areas. The 6,7,8 look is near correct. Try Clark in as 12, we have nothing to lose, the senior AB's need to go, give youth a chance to develop. Foster left a mess, now we need to turn a pig's ear into a silk purse. Game time, trying youth and playing players in their position 100%, plus less B/S rest breaks, play the game and learn.

@@Patrick8804 Yeah, really surprised Cam Millar didn't even make the ABs XV. He's not flashy, but neither are the likes of Sexton or Pollard, but we seem obsessed with 10's with razzle-dazzle rather than the basics. Hopefully he shines for the Highlanders next year.

Robinson can't do anything about French rugby. Frankly I'd prefer he toured the clubs and provinces of NZ and worked with them for a better sport for NZ players, refs, coaches, volunteers and fans. I would like to know why you deliver sermons like this vid but low ball when you have ppl like him on for an interview. I'll never forget your interview with the crusaders ceo after the trophy damage incident. I'm sure you thought exactly the same as me. It was a nothing story about a nothing trophy resulting in a nothing interview. Now you have your own show I'd like to think you can be a little harder on these ppl face to face
