"The Messenger" I know you've tried Very hard in your life to be kind When love has died You have held on stranger for the other guy People have changed Very little since you've been alive But you have grown To see them more with your heart than your eyes Can fail to give the right portrayal Was a bird behind a tree Gave me a mind to feel better He said just because you cannot see Doesn't mean that it isn't there Some days are long Without a song you can sing to feel good No sign from God To make it understood Loneliness succumbs to emptiness And a bird behind a tree Give me a mind to feel better He said just because you cannot see Doesn't mean that it isn't there Come on over to me Stop your crying please By the reflection of a little pond His eyes were friendly and his legs were long, so long You gazed a while Out the window with your cigarette Rebellious child So many tears to shed Then he came as if to say your name And you knew he spoke to you Clear as the voice in your own mind He said, just because you cannot see Doesn't mean that you cannot find Writer(s): John Bradley Houser, Kenneth Neil Withrow, Edie Arlisa Brickell, Matthew Chamberlain, John Walter Bush, Wesley C. Hello, everyone, l just came here because a friend sent me this song. It makes me very sad that the original one is not credited since it is a beautiful Oaxacan song. It is called "El Feo" and the original lyrics are in Zapotec, a language spoken here in the south of Mexico. Although he's mispronouncing the words, they do have a meaning. That region of Oaxaca, El Istmo has some beautiful tunes...

You hear bits of "Here We Are In the Years", but other than that it a really adventurous instrumental, akin to "Emperor of Wyoming", but far more complex. Brilliant piece.

too many roads things are changing too fast and cowardice is everywhere selfishness is eating up the world who can dream a good road and live to travel on it who can give birth to herself and then be her own mother her own father who can live in the future and live in the present and not go crazy who can live among the spirits and live among the humans without dying who can sleep with their own destiny and still know the happiness of a beautiful thing these are the riddles of the trees when people keep running something keeps chasing them In this life we have seen how sweet sorrow can be sometimes life appears as sad music and we cry to the hidden angels "we did not make this strange bed that we have to sleep on" We have sorrow but sorrow is the sister of hope and the mother of music (water the tree of love) we are the miracles that god made to taste the bitter fruit of time we are precious and one day our sufferings will turn into the wonders of the earth (water the tree of love) I have heard the singing of the dead and they tell me that life is good and that the ocean is full of songs life is good live it gently and with fire and always with hope destiny may be our only friend (water the tree of love) misery once filled me like a deep well after a heavy rain and all over the world thugs with fire in their brains were pounding each other in the weird delirium of history and someone tapped on the door of my spirit I may have found happiness but it is not what I thought it would be

I have been a Ralf fan since the early 90s. He is equally as exciting in the studio (this recording) as he is improvising, live, on stage. His sound is very distinctive. Its always enjoyable to listen to his art.

The restraint and skill shown in this cover is amazing. Most metal bands would have lost it at the end a descended into wankery. The drummer is also exceptional.
