I totally agree with you about so many long-standing issues still prevalent today from decades ago. One of the problems (not the only problem), is lots of devs are reluctant - due to laziness, ignorance, or just incompetence - to actually go into the hard-coding of their game/s to truly fix/improve things from a "core" level. They just tend to edit "content" to try and fix underlying issues. This applies to almost all aspects of the game, like A.I., physics, audio, etc. Eg, devs will just try to create new vehicle physics "content" or vehicle tyre "content" (updating specific vehicles' tyre files or physics files) like any modder can do rather than going into the games' underlying core physics engine / core tyre model and making changes there. Like, no...the deep underlying vehicle characteristics will still remain largely the same if the underlying hard-coded physics engine & tyre model isn't changed/updated. I could be an RFactor 1 or Assetto Corsa 1 developer "content creator" or modder and change the tyre and vehicle physics files all I want, as much as I want, for any given car/tyres. In the end, the RF1 car will still drive like an RF1 car and the AC1 will still drive like an AC1 car because the underlying core physics engine & tyre model that all those vehicle & physics files are "running off of" are still the same.

Getting into F1C again. I'm in the process of fixing the engine files. There's no point in using the maximum RPM for the cars in the vanilla game. You're always best to set your RPM limiter to the MINIMUM RPM. It's like all the engines are tuned for max power at each particular vehicles' minimum RPM limit. This is highly unrealistic because in real life - until 2014 and beyond due to engine fuel flow limits - teams/drivers would always increase RPM / use higher RPMs when, say, in qualifying mode or when trying to put in hot laps during the race (eg. before pitting), or when desperately trying to attack another car or defend from another car. In the vanilla F1 Ch 99-02, you'll actually be SLOWER if you use more RPM. Eg. 1999 Minardi. Garage RPM limiter is from 15,600 - 16,600. If you raise it to max (16,600) for, say, qualifying, you'll actually be slower. I checked other cars too to verify the issue is not just with the 1999 Minardi. It's not simply for more "physics realism", it's also for gameplay enjoyment. It's so satisfying and immersive when you strategically use higher revs for more speed while also being cautious not to over-do it due to decreased reliability at those higher revs - not to mention the sound of the increased RPM giving a sense of increased power/speed.

Talking shit of Rfactor's AI, I remember that one of the reasons why I passed to computer sims instead of GT4 was the fast bots, even if I didn't have a FFB wheel. And please, don't talk me of AC, its bots are mostly useful to become traffic cars, are rhezes on Rf1 that I remember mostly for how unpredictable their overtakes were. Playing NASCAR on AC would be even worse, as it would be material made by modders
@mattiapresti7295
@mattiapresti7295 6 күн бұрын
I've written "rfactor 2" in the text box and a video like this is appeared. OK, is good hearing all the experiences but... people, I don't from how short you play simracing games, but Rfactor franchise is one of the most solid in simracing scene. IS engine is out since 1999, I leave to yourself doing the math. Undoubtly Rf's bots are faster than AC's ones. One of the pro points of theese moddable sims is that also the bots behaviour is settable. Let's start to keep in mind this is not Gran Turismo, with all the respect I have for Kazunori san. Theese are hardcore games, to play after a beginning in console games. And, if you're searching for the definitive sim... if you start finding defect somewhere on every sim, I think that you're finally growing and realizing that all the titles have their carachteristics to be dealt fairly and not to search the best one, and face the reality that you are pretending to drive a racecar sitting in your living room and you're not even a racedriver, for how far hadcore sims can go, they will always remain VIDEOGAMES. ps: that's true, almost nobody criticizes AC, but when we come at tyres, AI and something else except graphics, Rfactor 2 is far ahead. For the interface, it is a standard, some are growth on AC and Netkar pro, somebody else, something like everyone was doing simracing before 2013, Rfactor and GTR2

iRacing knows how to advertise, present and sell the product, no doubt about that. However in reality, the whole platform is not what it seems. Lacking in graphics tremendously, many tracks are outdated by as much as 15+ years, and lately with increase in Latino players, there seems to be decrease in quality of clean and respectful racing. The days where iRacing was head and shoulders above other sims are also long gone with introduction of several new sims innthe last decade or so, and I hold iRacing membership since 2009, with increasing desire to abandon this relic.

Thank you for making this video Austin. Happy New Years 2025! I played the hell out of NHRA Drag Racing 2 as a kid and I remember revisiting it back in 2022. Funnily enough I discovered it after playing another drag racing game published by ValuSoft: Hot Rod: American Street Drag It's unfortunate a lot of the tune files and skins are lost to time. Hopefully some of them start to pop up and we're able to use them. Hope you're doing well! - Billy from Ontario, Canada

This was the last ea nascar game with multiple paint schemes for multiple different drivers. 07 besides cutting schrader and Carl Edwards also had drivers like dale jr, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson with only their main paint schemes. 08 of course having this except worse since the truck series doesn’t have Ron hornaday who won the championship that year and 09 doesn’t have him or Johnny benson. This game was the last good ea NASCAR game in my humble opinion

I agree 100%. After racing AC for a 250 hours, I mistakenly resubbed by accident to iRacing. I have so many issues just getting the game to work and still have ongoing problems. The car physics/tire model is absolutely horrendous and I'm finding myself hating the driving. Rookies drive worse than AC in a paid subscription game, it baffles my mind. The safety rating isn't helping much, people drive like aholes just to get a higher pole position. Then these comments here are all a bunch of bots saying the same thing. iRacing to me is a scam, where does all that money go into the game? It goes into promotion and advertisement/bot shilling it seems. I hope AC evo delivers, but until then I'll just continue having fun in AC/ACC.

What track was that? And what mods did you use? When people think fondly of GTR2, including myself. Its WITH the fixes and mods from the community, not just the stock vanilla game. You have to do some sort of fine tuning on your end, no compromises, you have to. Ai paths arent great on modded tracks if you were using a modded track. You can adjust ai in the files too but i usually set them to Clean and they never do this on the stock tracks. Its just the modded tracks that aren't all perfect. Also we used to have a large resource of alternative AI files on NoGrip website but sadly that is gone now :/

This and the Gold edition with the Trucks and updates are arguably some of the best stuff. It makes me wonder what that Trans Am game they were working on,would have been like if it ever got anywhere close to being finished, IIRC all we ever got were screenshots. As a Brit, it makes me laugh harder than it should that Team Pissy Duck got into the game and nobody objected to that at all. Also I find it interesting that they have the slider for the nitro but given the NHRA's rules locking nitro at 90% you can't adjust it. Bruce Sarver got a DQ for having 90 point something in the real 2000 season after inspection in a round. And once again, Winston gets through unscathed in text form, because why not. Can't show the logo,but can mention winston Championship Drag Racing on the team/driver info screens. also,the WWF Funny Car is replicated scarily well, toowh Also, anyone remind me what the NEC Drag Dome replaced event wise? I thought it was an addon trak but I seem to remember it standing in for an event or a track in the season mode?wor

I really appreciate you adding commentary like this. I had one incident in iRacing where I was fighting for position with some dude at Watkins Glen. For most of the race, there was no contact *at all* between us. I finally get a run on him entering the bus stop. We enter side by side and I'm on his right. I give him as much space as possible without going off the track, but he tries to cut across me when he wasn't quite clear. He immediately accuses me of spinning him on purpose and threatens to report. But, to his credit, he stopped crying foul when he actually watches the replay.

Ngl, Bubba didn’t deserve his fine from Chicago, especially with Chase Elliott getting no penalty for bumping Suarez (which looked worse than what Bubba did). I’m a Bowman fan, Bowman should’ve been wearing his belts on the cooldown lap (arguably NASCAR can be blamed for not enforcing that, though, are we surprised nascar isn’t enforcing safety, especially with how they rushed out the next gen car?) Other drivers have bumped people on cooldown laps (Chase Elliott Martinsville 2017, Kyle Busch Bristol. 2008, Carl Edwards Michigan 2006, etc…no penalties. Suarez at COTA 2023 was at least understandable, even though it was an excessive amount to fine him, I’m also a Suarez fan too saying that). The only issue I see with Bubba was his Vegas 22 incident. Other than that, I don’t see a problem, especially with the rage quit at Bristol on iRacing. I recall you saying in the Tanner Gray video that you made a couple months earlier than this one that you said you would’ve quit out of the race too. I think Bubba has become a little more calm but he does still have a little ways to go but I think people have been blowing it out of the water (similar to how people viewed Dan Ticktum during the late 2010’s and early 2020’s), especially after NASCAR inadvertently ruined his image after they botched the handling of the Talladega 2020 debacle. Just my opinion.
