Love the singing with the organ. There were so many gigs in the 60's and 70's for organist singers. Several are captured on video. I grew up with a Hammond L112 in the house, but seemed to play the piano and guitar more. Even got very serious on guitar and went to music school on L.A. in 1984-'85. Then in 1996 I found a Lowrey Holiday Deluxe organ from this same era as the DSO/DSO-1 and TBO organs. I fell in love with that sound. I could recall dozens of instances where the Lowrey sound was used in TV sound tracks even more than Hammond. My buddies started collecting guitars and amps, but even at the lower '90's prlces I couldn't afford to collect anything. Not only that, when it comes to guitar I have my 4-5 favorite amps and two electrics and one acoustic and I'm good to go. However with organs, they all have a special place. I love Lowrey, Wurlitzer, Baldwin, Gulbransen, Conn, Hammond, Thomas, Kawai, and Yamaha. I've owned every one of these brands! And now my collection consists of 6 of these. Funny I've had a Hammond A100, M3's, H100's, and Leslie 122's, but now I just have my beloved '55 ebony Hammond S6 Chord Organ with added Necklace Reverb and AO-35 amp, and a 1972 Hammond X-66 and it's 11-77 tone cabinet. I also have a Hammond ER20 'decorative tone cabinet' amplified speaker with fluid column reverb ( Laurens Hammond's first spring reverb). See *Ken Griffin Page* (ggl that, but it's on the Theatre Organ Home Page) and go to NUMBER 34 at the bottom of the page. That's "Ken Griffin's Special Effects" and it shows pics and explanations of the fluid column spring reverb. Of course Laurens Hammond refined the design into the compact spring tank we are all familiar with now. I also have my favorite Wurlitzer organs. A 1948 Keyed electrostatic reed organ, where air only is allowed to vibrate the reed when a key is depressed. Great for classical and liturgical, but too slow of an attack for popular standards. So in 1953 Wurlitzer totally reinvented the electrostatic reed organ. Now all of the reeds vibrate in soundproof enclosures continuously and the key attack is instant. The 4600 console and 4410 spinets beginning in the middle 1950's were Wurlitzer's viable competition for Hammond. With these models came the worlds first SUSTAIN on an organ. Wurlitzer invented sustain. Each key has a capacitor and bleeder resistor. Using two capacitors allows short/medium/long sustain ( both caps in parallel give the long sustain). The Wurlitzer 4600 was the 25 pedal console model Ken Griffin played on these albums. Note the 'Ken Griffin Special Effects' mentioned above. So here are the records Ken played 4600 on: KEN GRIFFIN CRUISING DOWN THE RIVER KEN GRIFFIN SKATING TIME KEN GRIFFIN 67 MELODY LANE KEN GRIFFIN ANNIVERSARY SONGS (an Ep record is on ytb, search *Ken Griffin at the Organ - Wurlitzer electrostatic reed organ* ) Also see great animated article ggl- NORTH SUBURBAN HAMMOND ORGAN SOCIETY - TECH ARTICLES - WURLI 4600 Ken Griffin 67 Melody Lane was also Ken's TV show name. He had on organists and his jazz friends ( on ytb) Ken was friends with Les Paul and they worked together of Ken's sound, especially interesting on the Cruising Down the River album.

Hey HPH I'm actually working on my 55 packard clippers brake system, I just had all of the brake lines replaced and had put fluid into the system and bled them but the brakes are still not wanting to work correctly, yes the brakes "work" but only for a little bit and usually only if you but it to the floor and the brakes seem to not wanna work at all if the car gets any kinda speed, I know it has fluid and I know the fluid is getting to the brakes but for some reason it's still being finicky, and weird thing too also is that the brakes are nice and firm and the pedal comes back up no problem when the car is stopped and not running but as soon as the car is running the brakes become soft and the pedal goes to nearly the floor before getting much resistance and the pedal doesn't wanna come back up vary well so I'm kinda stumped on what to do or look at or what, I'm hoping the master cylinder isent bad cause that would just suck but like I said I don't know. Is there anything you could maybe tell me that would probably point me in the right direction to hopefully getting this all figured out?

Easy to keep pedal out of way is to use bungee cord around steering column. Spraying a little PB blaster or similar product on brake lines aids in removal and allows nut to turn on brake line easing removal and installation When reinstalling I found easier to have unit loose from floor board enabling unit to be moved a bit to connect brake lines to avoid cross threading

American Flyer trains of the 1950s used these vibrator tubes for their "Air Chime Whistles". Trains run on 60hz and the tubes send 600hz through the track which is picked up by a speaker in the locomotives. These whistle tubes are all going on 70 or more years old and more often than not they don't work. I have a few torn apart on my work bench and this video will definitely be helpful in repairing them.

Hello! Good work! But what to do when this radio can receives only MW/LW bands? There are lots of EMI noise in cities and towns - because LED lighting on streets. Next to each lamp post there will be buzzing from a speaker.I mean an night and evening.
@hphpackardlowrey2776 Жыл бұрын
The radio alignment process makes it so it will reject any stray frequencies coming through the antenna, but if there are frequencies being picked up by the car chassis these can get picked up as they are not adequately filtered by the radio circuitry. Do you have all the recommended suppression capacitors installed? See your car service manual and/or radio owner's manual for where to put them.
@andrewandrosow4797 Жыл бұрын
@@hphpackardlowrey2776 To reject EMI noise in your car's radio DC/DC converter, I would first change two electrolytic capacitors to new low-ESR capacitors at 22 uF and 400 volts (I mean 2 capacitors after the rectifier). This update must usually helps - because old electrolytic capacitor usually "dry" and therefore does not have capacitance: you can hear loud "rrrr" from the radio speaker in any position of loudness regulator. Secondly, if it has not helps, I would checking the rectifier: are the both diodes working properly? If not - I would change the vacuum rectifier on the HER307 semiconductor diodes.

Except that no two of them sound the same anymore, none of the early Lowrey models sound radically different than another.
