Nice install Tom, but you should maybe read the dryer manual for length of vent. The propane dryers I installed years ago with 4” vent outlet on the dryer, maximum vent length was 14’. Great tips and information. Have a good day. 👍🏻👋

From the research I did maximum dryer vent is 35 feet -5 feet for every 90° bend so taking all that into consideration I’m about 28 feet total with the deductions so I guess we’ll see how it works. Might have to put a booster on it down the road.

Yes 5’ for each 90 degree elbow. Fans must be better on the new dryers for a 35’ run. Good flow with that. I suppose a person could put 5” vent pipe if needed. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

From when I looked up, maximum dryer distance is 35 feet with the new dryers. My total length there is 17 feet but for every fitting 90° bend you use you’re supposed to subtract 5 feet so it’s putting me right 28 feet of length so I guess we’re gonna find out. Haha

What? That first one you just stretch it and then let it shrink onto the fitting? Weird. Don’t think we have that here in Canada. I mostly see copper or pex. Why does the pex pipe have two different compression rings? One is the pinch crimp and the other compresses the whole circumference of the ring. Thanks for sharing and the walk through Tom. Have a good week my friend.
@fatefarmspa
@fatefarmspa 8 күн бұрын
Yeah, I didn’t know a whole lot about it Either pex A. has a memory in it where it wants to return back to its original shape. What I like about it. The most is you expand the pipe over top of full volume fitting instead of a smaller diameter, barbed fitting being pushed in and crimped, I think that’s why it’s so popular in our area cause of the flow

What do you think about the brass fittings vs plastic. I kinda regret using brass when I built. I have heard now that they have removed lead out of the brass, it isn’t as good. Is their truth behind that potentially?
@fatefarmspa
@fatefarmspa 9 күн бұрын
Yeah, they have taken a lot of the lead out of everything. That’s why I stuck with mainly plastic fittings did use some brass.

I would rather the copper cause that’s what I’m use to. And it’s neater. Craftsmanship is a lost art. Good for you keeping it alive. Now, having said I’d rather copper, we years ago used soft copper line for propane lines. Loved bending the copper to make it fit, by hand. Rarely used a bending tool or spring. But we ran into a lot of bad copper line that we had to cut out or replace lines because it had holes in it. Not good having holes in propane lines. 😳😳 Great video Tom. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋

Transitioning from copper to PEX is like when the electrical went from armored cable to Romex. People didn’t trust it at first, but then everybody started doing Romex. And just like with PEX, there is less room for error. For instance, you have to be extra careful about installing nail guards.
@fatefarmspa
@fatefarmspa 11 күн бұрын
Oh yeah for sure got to evolve with technology and our nail plate requirements are crazy …drilling through a 2 x 4 stud if it’s 60% or more, you have to use these wrap around Steel bracing gadgets to strengthen the 2 x 4 even if it’s not a bearing wall Very expensive

Great video Tom !! I have always been a fan of copper…….BUT…..with the cheaper quality that was used in the 80’s-90’s…..and having to rip it all out of a two story home with full basement. Due to pin hole leaks, and the contractor using the thin walled type….I forget which it was called (L?M) but it was junk, I replaced with all Pex……BUT used brass type fittings……Big mistake…..after a few years, they too started to corrode and leak. Then replaced them with the plastic connectors…..they seemed to work…..Moved from that home a few years back, assuming they are still working ok now. That was well water (Acid rain?) I know I’m comparing apples and oranges, but my MIL house) was all old school copper and built in the 50’s…..larger lines and much thicker, never a leak…..on any PIPE…..a few solder joints and fitting areas over the years, but very few. Appreciate the great video ……the new house is looking wonderful……your skills amaze me 👍👏🇺🇸 Rick

Yeah, that seems to be spot on exactly what you said the older copper and thicker copper L seems to be decent the M copper is definitely a lot thinner, but still legal in our county, and you mentioning about using PEX pipe with brass fittings that must be a common thing cause I’ve heard that from several people having the same problem leakage after several years of service very strange wonder why…. Houses coming along hoping to be hanging drywall within the next three weeks fingers crossed. Thanks for watching. Have a good weekend.

I wonder what's up with the copper? We did 100% plumbing tearout here at the house, and the plumbers replaced it with pex a, if that's what ya call it. The little white expansion things and blue and red pipe. The boiler is similar install but all white. Great stuff.
@fatefarmspa
@fatefarmspa 11 күн бұрын
Yeah, it seems to be the best stuff on the market when it comes to plastic and the white stuff is made specifically for high temperature so that makes sense as well. Glad to hear they at least put the right materials in 👍

Good Morning Sir 😇👍👍 I love cupper too 🙏😇 Very Nice Looking Plumber Work Sir that you have done👍🧐👌Yes I agree cupper tube maker should ( must ) have a better quality 🧐👍 Very Nice Tip Quality Check 👍👌🧐In Germany the only place that they allowed to cut a plastic tube ( pex high pressure and high temp rated have only one type of piping allowed ) is at the beginning and at the end end that applied to heat systems too 🧐👍I live from 2000 until 2004 and I saw a lots of new houses built. So They have a cold and hot manifolds from where the Pex tubes are all connected and for the heating system a return manifold and all these tubes are not cut until they reach the water outlets, floor thermostat heater, Wall Heater or toilets. They have also limit on how they are allowed to bend these tubes and these areas are included in blue prints of the house ( like service water lines spaces from floor to floor ). 😇👍 Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING Videos Cheers 👍👌😇🍻

Oh yeah, cut a ton of that out. I found the trick to that stuff is make sure your hot water tank temperatures are not real high and make sure you got a good pressure regulator Keep the pressure down Seems to keep it from blowing apart.
