The Cox should have called easy. Let 7 seat get his blade back and take it off the run. No doubt a novice crews with very little experience

A worthy effort trying to get the handle back underneath, but you just can't let the blade catch as you are passing the oar under your legs. Outstanding film and replays showing superb air and full extension as the #6 helps put his teammate out of his misery and into the water.

That's common sense in such situations as well when your oar breaks apart, you jump out of the boat to make it lighter

Haha I was in this race but was further behind so I didnt see it! I'm pumped someone got a video becasue everyone on my team saw it and no one thought to get a video of it!
