I think you need to learn a little patience when coming up to situations where cage drivers are also looking to over-take slower traffic. Cars get fewer opportunities to over-take, he was in front of you and you knew he would be looking to over-take. Extend some courtesy and let him go first, You can pass him any time you want. Like the video series so far though...

Hello! Thank you mvery much for making this video, It is very much appreciated. Question on removing the gas tank - do we need to actually empty out the tank or with careful attention, can "some gas be present"? I noticed that from 2:43 - 4:21 no gas was removed and I did hear some gas in there. Thank you in advanced.

So the six bars on the gauge is normal? Thought the bike was overheating.

This video, yrs ago, was the final boot that made me sell my 990SMT and get one. One thing i won't forget, first ride and took it to fill it up. that ride i will not forget. my previous 990SSMT sold it due to the stupid response to the throttle grip. the SMT runs like digital off and on regardless of the high input or tiny input. anyway i drove of and out of town. i had to stay behind a pickup Sprinter/Ducato as the road was clear and i as i was used to switched back in gears and opened the throttles. i nearly escaped the pickup body and the front wheel rose towards the sun. after getting all of that under control i just rode it like it felled right, then in one of those S shaped curve after some distance , receiving the best feedback in stability and control i peaked at the speedo, and it said 168km/h. it felt like 110. i filled her up and took her towards the mountain roads close by. i got to the last roundabout and got carried away due to her great handling, so i opened the throttles again, way less than before and during the exit of the roundabout, still leaning a bit i felt the front tires air-born again. so those guys standing at the parking lot, and i didn't want to make a fool of myself i reduced the throttle just a bit and felt i could control this beast beautifully. So i was wheeling and steering this beast and got her down softly short before the next right corner into the forest. i had to stop the next chance and used both hands to light my cig, trying to look like nothing happened. I had a smile on this bike from the moment i started it at home until back at home. the lovely thing is, especially in comparison to KTM990 SMT , throttle response and throttle control is fantastic. additionally the SMT feels like dead in the water at higher revs. it seems to have a square torque output. one day i will take her to a racetrack. the one issue i had was that she had like a misfire sporadically, one day out of the garage i started her up and got me suited up. as i sat on the seat she stalled, instrument cluster dead. ignition one off no response, suddenly ignition came up and pressing the starter everything died again. so i got my voltmeter and checked battery and voltage drop plus and minus. there was negative missing completely. so i followed the negative lead and i had nothing at the other end. i opened it at the engine side and found the crimp was bad. it was not water it was not crimped right. the isolation was perfect. so i got that fixed and ever since she does not stutter, misfire or act strange any more. i fixed the bearings swing-arm to shock, those were corroded by steam-cleaner and had a little play. serviced the upside-down forks, and filled 15W instead of 10W. she always had the fuel smell and i found that. the fuel-pump assy is leaking do to the plastic tank warping. a seal and a second thinner one added got tension and never had that fuel smell again. synchronised her with 2 pressure gages, i like this bike. Italians are great in design and great in such innovations. this bike does what you ask of her, your in command. so drive wisely. 139HP on the RR without any system limiting your input, is a wild beast for non racers. i wash my Tuono with rainwater and micro-towel. no stains, no polish needed. there is a nice sticker i added to the front fender, i got the impression the director of Venom or Aprilia was inspired by Venom. the face, oddly similar and the behaviour too. ride safe, ride free.

I had an R1100 ten years ago and compared to the R1200 rs I own now, the older bike had much more character, more punch and lighter handling. I still like the 1200 though, it's become rounder, civilised and slightly anemic in my humble opinion. It's the most "car like" bike I have ever owned. Whatever that means. Thanks interesting review.

Thanks for the video. Just a few questions the first video I watched on coolant change the tech flushed the system with distilled water before adding new coolant. Is that not really necessary or does it not matter? Also the bike they were working on was a first gen and it had a bleeder to get all the air pockets out of the system. I have a 3rd gen (2013) like yours so I'm wondering does it not have the bleeder or is it just easier to expell the air pockets out by squeezing all the hoses?
@TheSussexBiker4 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for watching and commenting. It's certainly good practice to flush a cooling system, I have useused distilled water because in my location (the south UK) the tap water has a chalk content and it's known as hard water, just me being over anal! The procedure in this video is based on the workshop manual and I'm pretty certain in there it actually tells you to tip the bike side to side from memory there is no bleeder, I wasn't going to do that , I an a vehicle (car) technician and I have always squeezed the hoses on cars and it's always worked for me hence why I did it in this video. If you have a search on the net you will find there are official workshop manuals out in the 'wild' or there used be at least.

Thanks so much your video, been watching it in build up to change rear pads on my 2012 VFR800X . Bicycle mechanic for many years. After last few disappointing shop service ,front brakes and new chain and sprockets 😮I decided to get a torque spanner and do it with Care! The 800x is a little different from the one in the video but your thorough I'm depth video gave me the confidence to do the job, big Cheers 👍 The pistons took a good few goes to get all way trial and error eventually got there. My main issue was after giving the calipers a good spray of brake cleaner and cleaning everything off I ended up with a thin copper membrane that I had no idea where to fit. Several hours and call a mate later I still had no clue. At this point another neighbour offered a smoke , green in nature🌬️. And after refitted callipers and much thought I worked out that only logical place would be against bottom of calliper, giving I guess a copper slip for the pads to move on👍 Still not 100% sure and I get that logic not always prevail, that said it's not going anywhere,as under pad edges and whilst loose when fitting it did kinda seem the only place to fit. Fitted the rear wheel at 4am after along day scratching thy head and only my pipe to go now 🎉. Raining here today and body aches everywhere from doing what you made simple a rather hard job on a bike with no centre stand 😮 a single sided paddock stand working 20cm from the ground 😢 Not pumped the brakes yet but spun wheel a few times and so quiet compared to my Shop $$ installation of front brakes that basically all they did was swap the pads. I even took time to polish up my 4 chrome wheel nuts , cause I could and give rear wheel a thorough clean too . Nice to do things proper like. Especially when pads I removed where original ones , 52,000km , 12yo. Thank again for the confidence you gave me to do the job with care👍

Having had a lifetime of sports bikes but deciding I’m getting old and chose to go touring I decided BMW make touring bikes and searched and searched eventually finding a K1200S in like new condition with hardly any miles … loved it but 170bhp all it ever wanted to do was go fast ( I used to race bikes and I understand ‘fast’ but that bike took fast to a whole new level and in todays modern era ones licence wouldn’t last long 😢) and wanting a more sit up and beg riding position I considered the obvious GS but going the long way round to Tescos wasn’t my vibe but I liked the BMW quality , the heated grips , suspension on the button and most of all the shaft drive hassle free touring . So I decided upon the RS and fit risers … after a long search I found a one owner 7000miles with all the options /extras even a tinted larger screen and high bars ( very comfortable ) all I’ve added are a set of sw moto crash bars , Motorrad 6 satnav and ( it was still on original road 4 tyres) a pair of michilin road 6 .. that’s it and I can’t express how pleased I am with it .. only 125bhp but easily keeps up with mates on far sportier bikes yet I’m certain il enjoy a trip to Italy later in the year in relative comfort … it’s my forever bike and so pleased I made the change

Gonna attempt to look at one this week. Great price, showroom condition, low miles, bone stock. I don't generally buy used intending on considerable mods, but a tune, lighter louder exhaust, LED's panniers, the list really does go on... I'm in love with what I THINK this bike COULD BE. My heart is with my stock 05 GSXR, that's where I'm at, but you can't ride it all day long. Maybe I'm wrong and this bike just isn't made for someone looking for an SS modified to ride all day long. Maybe the test ride will let me know either way. Great review thank you !!!
