Another great video Rebecca. All sorts of things going on here. I love your paint swatches. If we have toad in the hole we never have potato with it. Just the gravy. It's enough stodgy in one go. But it rose up well. I don't shop at Tesco very often because the Tesco shop in our small town is just a horrible building. But there's a Tesco Express near my unit. I noticed yesterday that the Christmas sandwich flavours are back in stock so I celebrated with Brie and cranberry sauce. I love that sandwich. Your sister's birthday is very close to your mum's birthday isn't it. Everything coming at once. Great to know that your worrisome customer has subsided. We all need less of those in our lives.

I wouldn't add that mash and gravy on the top again, Sue. It just flattened that yorkshire pudding and made it dough like. It was a recipe I saw on KZbin. Not a great idea, lol, although the flavour was there. I don't know how the hell my mam manged to fit 2 portions in 🤣 I'll be checking out those sandwiches. I love turkey and stuffing ones. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they're in white bread as nearly all sandwiches are wholemeal lately and it gives me IBS symptoms.

Hi Rebecca 👋 another lovely vlog, I'm just catching up now, were did you learn to paint, I'm struggling but I'm getting there slowly, I struggle with how wet you wet the paper, I never seem to get it right lol colouring is much easier, but I'm desperate to do watercolour, you make it look so easy, and all your paintings turn out beautiful everytime, I just ordered 2 more paint sets this morning, I get so excited for them 😊 I love using your paints in my colouring books, they are absolutely stunning 😍 thankyou for all your hardwork you put into everything ❤️ very much appreciated. Ps I would love to hear how you got into your art ❤ xx
@TheArtSpirits3 күн бұрын
Hi Katie. So glad you enjoyed the vlog, thanks so much 😊 I first got into watercolour when I saw some watercolour tutorials, I think on KZbin, probably around 8 years ago. I remember then buying some sets of tutorials on DVD by a few different people. But I think my breakthrough was when I got a book by Stephanie Law and followed the tutorials in that. It's called Dreamscapes and she takes you step by step through some paintings from beginning to end. Just going through all the steps was excellent practice of different techniques and I just felt it all starting to click. The biggest thing is water control. You have to just practice experimenting with wet in wet. You really shouldn't practice on colouring book paper. Use watercolour paper. Once you've mastered the water control on watercolour paper you could move on to colouring book paper but it's really not made for watercolour, especially very wet washes like I did in this video. It was hard to paint on that paper with the amount of water I used. I was just kind of experimenting. The thing I've learned that's really important is the amount of water on the paper. There's a sweet spot that works really well. Not too wet, just a sheen, not a puddle. Too much water and it just spreads out of control. Also the paint on your brush needs to be a stronger concentration of paint. If it's too watery on your brush and you add it into another wet colour it will cause those water blooms. Lovely if you want them but annoying if you don't. I would advise you to just practice wet in wet on watercolour paper purely for the purpose of getting a feel for it. Not even to make a painting, just to practice different concentrations of paint and water. Drop strong paint into a watery page and see what happens. Then do the same on a less watery page and you will see the difference of how it behaves. Then practice different concentrations of paint on the brush. Once you've got a feel for it, you'll find your able to have some control when you come to paint something. Another tip is to practice making water blooms. It's actually a bit tricky when you want to make them. But once you know how to make them, you then know how to NOT make them too. If you learn all these things, I bet you will find a big improvement in your watercolour paintings. Hope that helps 😃🎨

@@TheArtSpirits thankyou so much for sharing, it's starting to click I followed a good tutorial on KZbin and she was explaining about the consistency, 1 should be like tea, 2 should be coffee, 3 should be milk, 4 should be cream and 5 is like butter, and that stuck with me well, been practicing all day, I only use your paints for smaller details in my ivy colouring book, and your paints turn out lovely in it, especially the gold, its much faster too 😊 thankyou again for your reply it really helped me and now I know I'm on the right path I just have to keep at it 😊 😀 xx

Oh that's great, Katie. Hope you're enjoying yourself and totally fall in love with watercolour. Yes, my metallics are mainly for embelishments. They don't behave the same way as normal watercolours so it's best to use proper watercolours for practice. You've totally inspired me today and I've got my Stephanie Law books out that I was telling you about. I've also recorded a little bit about them and it's be in Sunday's vlog if you'd like to watch it 👍🎨

Hi Rebecca, I hope you are feeling better with your dental issues, I was feeling your pain as you were talking, there is nothing worse than toothache. About that nightmare customer, they say ‘you give an inch and they will take a mile’’, what a horror story! As a person who buys online, you definitely know there are shipping fees and additional import fees; that is always explicit before you enter your card details. As a buyer, if you don’t know that, you are living under a rock or you are from a different planet. You did well in standing your ground. And don’t worry, when people leave bad reviews, as a reader/buyer you can read between the lines and understand that some people are purely and simply troublemakers. I loved the video and thank-you for uploading even though you had some pain issues. Your colouring is beautiful! I also loved the food you cooked (it didn’t help I watched it before dinner 😄) and your cute puppy, I want one of those 🥰 By the way, a little tip that may help, if a paper gets glued with medium, you can always heat it up with a hairdryer, the glue will temporarily melt and you will be able to unstuck it. I have a root canal treatment to endure on the 1st Nov. Oh joy! If the chair rolling around on its own annoys you, you can buy a special mat for office chairs. My husband’s office floor is upstairs here and it’s all over the place. Not a single part is flat. He would roll away while trying to type. His black mat has solved the problem. They make clear ones too I think. He got it from Amazon. He said they are geared towards gamers, for some reason. Search “chair mat”. His is a GT Omega Floor Pad. It will protect the floor boards too. We all have customers like that. My example was German too. Just after Brexit. My only advice would be to cut the email conversation much sooner. State your position, stick to it and stop replying. They try it on.

Even in this day and age dentistry is in my opinion still barbaric. At the age of 71 I'm still terrified of going to the dentist, Lucy's paints look lovely and I look forward to seeing them next vlog. Your customer sounds a real humdinger, and well done with sticking with her and explaining , I wouldn't have lasted so long. Certainly sounded so stressful, hopefully she won't be in contact again. Thanks for sharing a wee bit of your life with us Rebecca, take care 🎉❤

Thanks so much, Kate. Yes, my mouth is definitely on the mend, thankfully. 😅
