I'm going to use a long cardboard box that goes end to end. Once I have the cutout I'll fold it in half and create the same cutout. No measuring involved and hopefully it will be perfectly even. .. thanks for showing us this, it helped me come up with my way. I'll record it and post if it works out.

My A6 has this key in the keyfob but is just for opening the doors. There is no ignition slot for it.
