If you're having issues with torn edges, start cutting from the bottom, go up to the left, then back down and up to the right.

I only put on the protectors because it's a gift. For my own albums I wait until finished. They are not difficult to take off

Love this! I would make one suggestion: use the repositionable adhesive to hold your paper in place while you do the cutting.

That has been suggested before and that works! I just prefer not to use it on my mat. Past experience for me is I never get all of it off and my mat gets gunky (is that even a word? lol)
