The "keyboard warriors" joke was disrespectful and beneath a true Sifu.

A lot of people mistake this for 52 blocks, somewhat similar but it incorporates a lot of Chinese styles along with Kali, Silat using only the arms. While it looks easy, it isn't, you have to develop the instinct of always "stepping in" to be effective as a CQC and the purpose of this is to literally anticipate every attack from finishing. You see the attack and close the distance to stop it midway and that's just the basics

Hi Sifu Alan. This is a great video. How can you train some of these solo on a bag or in the air if you don't have a partner?

I am not familiar with carrying firearms at training or anywhere else, but it makes sense for your skill selection practice to consider this variable in any event. Thanks

I lived on a street with about 12 bars in a 3 block radius so I saw a LOT of fights . Pretty much every one of them that did go to the ground ended up with the friends of one the fighters jumping in and kicking the other one in the head . A few times it was just random dudes that simply wanted in on the action. So I agree, train to either stay detached or get detached to get up as fast as possible .

I think nobody is doing this because this lineage of martial arts has typically fizzled out as gimmicky/dead-pattern like JKD, krav maga, Keysi. Gracie Jiujitsu answers all of these scenarios without jeopardizing control of the opponent nor introducing liability risks from prematurely escalating force with strikes. Hint: these are Keysi principles applied with a veneer/appearance of Gracie Jiujitsu positions.

This is why I'm naturally a Defensive Fighter. I know that many Senseis, Sifus, Coaches, and Instructors teach being the aggressor, but there are many reasons why I take more of a defensive stance. You can still strike or tackle faster if that's your intent, but you could grapple, go to the ground, have a Blade, Staff, or Gun pulled on you, have your back against a wall, have your back against a gun, or have to be mobile and even crouching. All sorts of scenarios exist. You might pick up an improvised weapon in the process. Then, there are the legal ramifications of assaulting someone. Because of encounters over the years, Life and my study of the Martial Arts & Combat have crafted me into being a Street Fighter. In simple terms, I've built skills both armed and unarmed for urban environments predominantly, but I can fight wherever is necessary. I'm a Striker, but I can grapple. In various situations, I've utilized Boxing, Kickboxing, Aikido, Jiujitsu, Wrestling, and more to handle situations, protect myself, and protect others. I have had knives and firearms drawn on me. I had to know how to deescalate situations or turn the attention on me as well to draw the attention away from less capable people. If bullets are flying in the air or gunplay may occur, awareness is key on how to act. I'm the type of Guy that will run to the gunfire within reason to make sure that people are ok and takedown or takeout the shooter if necessary. I Love that you mention the Warrior's Mentality.
