This looks so much easier than it is! In the verse Coordinating the Bass kicks on the fourth 16th while playing the hihat with the other foot and the snare pattern with accents on even other counts is so tricky

This video makes me realize how good I have it with my 70s New Beats! All the crispness of the modern ones but so much darker! I like them better than anything except the K Lights and the Keropes. The Fat Hats are way too bright, and the Sweets have that high overtone from the raw bell. If it wasn't for vacuum suck, I'd say the New Beats are absolutely perfect. They sound like Ks till I bark em and everybody wakes up.

Todella hyvää soittoa. Osaat haitsun soiton. Näin neljäkymmentä vuotta bändeissä ja kitaraa soittaneena biisintekijänä kommentoin:) Käytän ehdottomasti palveluitasi, jos tarve tulee. Hintasi ovat myös hyvin edulliset. Monenlaisten rumpalien kanssa on tullut soitettua, sulla on homma todella hallussa. Phil Ruddin laiska groove on oikeasti haastava monelle rumpalille.

Finally a musician who doesn't perform other people's pieces in his own way! When you play songs that are extraordinary you respect them and pay attention to the details. I played the same piece and found slight differences from your playing. You understood some launches better, I understood others. Overall you did a great job. COMPLIMENTS

Thank you! Yeah, there were many places that could have been better, I recorded this 10 years ago and was reading my own transcription...but in retrospect, it's great that many people have watched my attempt to cover Vinnie's stuff :)

Both New Beats and the K lights. Wanted to love the Fats but they are just a wee-bit slow on the open stick.

Sounds great man! Thats not at all an easy groove to make feel good and you've got it dialed in, for sure. I'm sure Bill would dig! GREAT snare sound to boot. Glad I stumbled across this after your Zildjian 15" hi-hats comparison vid.

This is brilliant. So totally in front of the beat and so on point. Beautiful integration with the hand percussion instruments. Love this cover so much!

OMG - its so hard to take a decision. So far 1. K Sweet 2. 70's New Beat 3. Fat Hats 4. K Light Tomorrow maybe vice versa. So hard to take a final decision .. Even if you go into the store and testplay ..

pretty nice work dude! Not quite as funky as the original, but you got the idea of the groove being more important that a bunch of " drummer" shit.

I love that you zoom up on the hi hat...its like the only hard part about the song, it sounds easy but when you try it your brain is like "whoaaa"

Again - the drums sound awesome! Great snare! Kick too!! I usually favour smaller crashes but wow those big Ks sound fantastic. Would love to see a breakdown on how you record - and mix, your drums.

Thanks very much! This was the first try for my new Tama Bell Brass snare, sounded great! I'm not good at mixing, so I don't think I will do any tutorials about that :) Thanks for the comment!
