What about people over 70? Over 80?
@HealthMedicineUpdate
@HealthMedicineUpdate 2 ай бұрын
For people over 70, the target HbA1c range is typically higher than for younger individuals to account for the potential risks associated with lower blood sugar levels. Target HbA1c range for the people over 70 should be 7.5% to 8.5% It's important to note that the target range may vary based on individual health factors and should be determined in consultation with a healthcare professional.

Iam 75 years. My H1Abc is 6.9 to 7.3. I do not take diabetic medicines. Just follow control on sugar and in take of carbohydrates. Do about 3 km walk daily . It is fine for me. Many doctors prescribe metformin tabs for people like myself. My experience is that tabs are not required. My daily blood sugar level is between 100-150

The quickest easiest safest method to reverse diabetes (HBA1C ) is a low carb high fat diet with normal protein and even better is a Keto diet with less than 20g of total carbs a day. My own experience as a 20+ year insulin dependent diabetic age 73 in 18 months is weight down 37Kgs Insulin usage down from 140 units to 6 units - HBA1C down from 8.5 to 5.4 BP 150's down to 128 liver / kidney tests all improved - Doctors are treating blood glucose rather than high fasting Insulin (Insulin Resistance) and use drugs rather than admitting its the high total carbs (sugars/fructose etc) in the diets.

Average is not useful. You want optimal, below 5. Look at sugar grams of everything you eat and cut way back. Add fiber (psyllium).

The threshold for diabetes was lowered in the late 90's. It used to be at 8 or 9 A1C now it's been lowered to 6.5. Mine lowered on it's own without medication that I had to stop taking because it made me lightheaded and horrible headaches. No mention when it was 7.1 of lets see what is going on. Nope. You have diabetes take this crappy medication called Metformin. I lowered it as I said before with a mild change in diet and back to my normal exercise routine. I was unable to workout due to a back injury and severe pain in my back and my right leg. I could not walk for 2 weeks and barely able to after those 2 weeks. My doctor put me on Jardiance which also gives me a headache and I almost fainted one day and I have had to stop taking it. I have called my doctors office and no calls back I have left messages when the symptoms occurred. I cannot work with a headache and the possibility of fainting being a mechanic.
