Thanks! While this video is of the 0.6.3 version I'm working on, the path repeater is available in the 0.6.2 version currently available to testers, so you should be able to try it out right away!

There's no set date yet for release yet, or any of the later testing phases. But the first testing phase is already under way, and with each new testing build a couple of more testers from the list are invited to try it out.

You can see a rough roadmap of what the plan is here: paragraphic.design/development-roadmap/ and as you can see it's getting pretty close to the first round of testing. Most likely it'll be at some point late summer. But there will be a couple of rounds of testing, with more and more people of those who've signed up being invited for each round.

Well, technically it should be possible to make an iPad version based on the platform independent engine it's built it, but touch devices have a couple of UX challenges (like not having a cursor for precision clicking and hovering things, and needing space for value/text entry keyboards) that might make it a little tricky to make a port that's actually usable. So at least initially I'll probably concentrate on the desktop version working as well as possible.

Incredible! A new player gearing up to take on Adobe Illustrator? I really think that if someone comes up with a graphic design app that's all about meeting the needs of today's graphic designers, it could kill Illustrator just like Figma did with Sketch. Focusing on graphic design and not illustration, UI or bullshit 3D effects. Yes! I think focusing on logo creation and ways to create geometric shapes with parameters instead of drawing everything manually is what Illustrator is really missing. Love the some randomness of it! This will be great when working with visual identities. Please take a look at the book Flexible Visual Systems for ideas! Other things I think an app like this needs (compared to Illustrator): Better "live" guidelines and auto alignment. Better ways to work with paths and to manipulate the Bézier curve. Astute Graphics has this on lock - like removing points without messing up the curve - but unfortunately they're just an Adobe Illustrator plug-in company with a super overwhelming product line. Focusing on ways to easily create and export brand assets is something that Illustrator is missing. Someone made Logo Package Express for that particular reason. Good luck with the app, I wish you all the best. An Adobe Illustrator challenger is very welcome!

You're right that it's pretty basic this early in development, and you're also right that a lot of the functionality under the hood will be similar to how Patternodes works. So if you're familiar with that you'll definitely recognize some features and terminology in Paragraphic. But the ambition is to wrap this functionality in a different UI structure to make it more accessible to people who aren't familiar with node-graph type interfaces, while also hopefully make it more efficient and easy to work with for people who are.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. But if you just mean having no lines/dots where it's white you can just reduce the minimum point size to zero or use the setting to remove points smaller than a certain size to get that effect.

Sure, these values and nodes work just like all other nodes, so you can apply animations as well. I think one of the included sample files has an example of a simple animated bar graph.

I knew of Patternodes before but thought it was just for creating pattern graphics. I had no idea that you could do data viz stuff like this!? I am thinking of purchasing after watching this amazing video but would like to know if there is a course somewhere or more tutorials focusing on this type of use with Patternodes (as I am a complete beginner when it comes to this node-based approach)?

Glad you like the new data-driven features. They're still kind of new and a bit bare-bones, so I don't think there are any courses out there on that specifically other than these quick demo videos. Someone made an introduction course for Patternodes here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHnMoKSwiN6ritk but that's more focused on basics and plotter art. However, there are a couple of sample files included in the app package (You can find them via the Help menu in Patternodes) with examples you can play around with for the new data table stuff, and you don't need to buy the app to download and try them.

Yes, there's a radial (and a spiral) halftone pattern you can use to make concentric ring patterns using line rasters or points

Well, it depends. Patternodes is more specialized and limited but has a graphical interface making it easier to do some things. Processing is more like a full programming environment where you write code to generate designs. Both are free to try, so you can try both and see what suits your needs.

No, it's unlikely there will ever be a windows version of Vectoraster (or Patternodes). But if we make a new product in the same field it will likely be cross-platform in some way.

Sure, Patternodes is compiled as a universal binary, meaning it has both an M1 binary for native Apple Silicon support and an intel binary for native support of intel-based macs in the same bundle.

I wish you would make a windows version as my ipad is too old iOS 9.3.5 and I can't download the trial. I've voted for it fingers crossed.

Yeah, Patternodes is macOS only at the moment, so you won't be able to run it on Windows or iOS. It's unlikely there will ever be a windows native version of Patternodes, but we have some ideas for a future cross-platfrom web application with similar functionality that you could use on Windows as well.
